The Virginia Department of Transportation said they will keep lane closures to a minimum on Election Day, especially near polling places. The agency has announced their latest list of lane closures which will affect the Interstate 95 corridor, from Occoquan to the Fairfax County Parkway.
Be on the lookout for these:
I-95 South
When: Mon., Wed. and Thurs., 8:30 a.m.—2:30 p.m. and Fri., 8:30 a.m.—noon.
What: Single lane closure
Where: I-95 south, from Exit 166, Fairfax County Parkway (Route 7100) to Exit 160, Gordon Boulevard (Route 123)
Why: Electrical work and clearing
I-95 North
When: Mon., Wed. and Thurs., 8:30 a.m.—2:30 p.m. and Fri., 8:30 a.m.—noon.
What: Single lane closure
Where: I-95 north, from Exit 160, Gordon Boulevard (Route 123) to Exit 166, Fairfax County Parkway (Route 7100)
Why: Grading and bridge work
Lorton Road (Route 642) West
When: Mon., Wed. and Thurs., 8:30 a.m.—2:30 p.m. and Fri., 8:30 a.m. to noo
What: Single lane closure
Where: Lorton Road (Route 642) west, from Gunston Cove Road to Silverbrook Road
Why: Material movement
Lorton Road (Route 642) East
When: Mon., Wed. and Thurs., 8:30 a.m.—2:30 p.m. and Fri., 8:30 a.m.—noo
What: Single lane closure
Where: Lorton Road (Route 642) east, from Silverbrook Road to Gunston Cove Road
Why: Material movement
Furnace Road East and West
When: Mon., Wed. and Thurs., 8:30 a.m.—2:30 p.m. and Fri., 8:30 a.m. to noon.
What: Single lane closure (Flagger to direct traffic)
Where: Furnace Road east and west underpass, at I-95
Why: Layout and barrier placement
