Six area groups get grant funds

Thanks to the Freddie Mac Foundation, six organizations working to improve the lives of children and families in the Prince William area have been awarded a total of $180,000.

Prince William police arrested Santos Mejicanos Gomez, 28, of 827 Rettem St., Hyattsville, Md., for possession of burglary tools and possession of stolen property after they said they found him in possession of a 1997 Honda Civic that was reported stolen in Maryland.

Prescription medicine valued at $436 was stolen from the glove compartment of a car parked at a restaurant in the 14200 block of Lee Highway around 2 p.m. Wednesday.
