The doors of O’Meara’s in Manassas closed with little fanfare or attention. But we would like to take a moment to say goodbye.

Since 2003, the restaurant has been offering food and an exciting night life for area residents.

Unfortunately, for undisclosed reasons, the business shut its doors in April.

The restaurant was a sight of some acclaim because of its owner. Mike O’Meara, 50, was the co-host of the “Don and Mike” syndicated radio program and currently hosts the Mike O’Meara Show on
WJFK-FM. He did not return calls to this newspaper seeking information about the closing of the restaurant.

Given the tough economic times and the recent closings of a number of businesses in Manassas, we hate to see O’Meara’s go.

It added flavor to the small-town atmosphere of Manassas and the city is poorer for having lost it.

We hope to see more of Mr. O’Meara in the future. If not in the old incarnation of restaurant owner, then perhaps in a new one. Good luck.
