ONLINE READER REACTION
Published: October 31, 2008

These are some of the online reader reactions to an Oct. 28 article about a new immigration policy passed in Manassas.
The policy will have police in the city investigating the immigration status of everyone they arrest.

Same as the watered down version of the Prince William County resolution but without the waste of money.  At least they learned from our lesson.

I am all for asking legal status across the nation for people who participate in criminal acts. However, I also hope that the police will make it clear that they plan not to ask the “targeted” population upon
their requests for help (i.e. calling 911).

It is one thing to cross the border illegally for a better life; another to cross the border and become an illegal immigrant and violent criminal on our soil.

Yes, both are against the law, but let’s get rid of the REAL bad people now.

If a non-violent illegal immigrant calls 911 for help because they were physically attacked (or whatever), I believe the attacker should be the focus… and the caller need not worry about his status just
because he called 911.

Great going Manassas. We need all the help we can get.

We need to save our way of life and we need to get rid of the drugs and gangs.

We have enough of our own citizens who need to be hauled in, but to eliminate those who sneak over has to be top priority.

Good Going.

Let’s wait and see if these policies will really deter people from entering the U.S. illegally or bring down crime, but in my view, it’s a waste of time and money. The police should be seen as guardians of
the community, not as border patrol agents.

If the community is afraid of the police, crime will not be reported. This will make the community twice a victim — victims of criminals and victims of the police. This policy is nothing but a continuation a
Corey Stewart’s resolution and the rest of the brainless government that run our beloved county.

All illegal immigrants, both arrested and not, should be deported! It’s not fair to immigrants that play by the rules!

FINALLY!!
