ONLINE READER REACTION
Published: September 4, 2008
These are some of the online reader comments to Gary Jacobsen’s Sep. 2 column about what Barack Obama’s first 100 days would be like if he is elected president.
In the column, Jacobsen says it is clear that Obama will become president.
Gary, I believe there’s an expression that goes with this article perfectly. It involves chickens and counting.

Abundantly clear? Just say no to weed Gary.
I hope Obama is elected just to watch all these Obamaniacs realize they’ve been taken for a ride once the honeymoon is over and the Obama high wears off.

What an appallingly presumptive statement to make. After recovering from such a declaration, however, a few questions come to mind:
What exactly do you know that we don’t?
What information do you have that essentially negates the upcoming election?
What bona fides do you possess to prove the authenticity of this information?
What kind of fraud do you foresee being perpetrated upon the voting public that would produce such a conclusion?
What type of predictive apparatus (be it domestic, alien, injection molded, or vaguely 8 ballish in appearance) do you use to collect such information?
Why do you think that your suppositions are plausible?
Why on earth do I waste my time perusing such ravings?

Why would we give a clean slate to all those who enter this country? Why wouldn’t we have as stringent a screening process as possible? Why not just invite Al Qaeda to gain citizenship so they can set
up shop a bit more easily?
Reduce our support for Israel? The only ally we have in the part of the world? The only other truly democratic nation in that part of the world? Please. Instead we should augment the “humanitarian” aid to
the Palestinians, a people who danced in the streets in celebration of what happened to us on September 11? Great idea Gary.
And during these 100 days, is he going to begin to socialize health care? If so, I hope he begins to discuss the middle-class tax increase that would be absolutely necessary in order to accomplish that.
And kudos to Gary for advocating more class warfare and punishment of those who’ve worked hard to earn money.
The wealthiest Americans already pay well over 40 percent income tax and this isn’t enough? While we’re at it, why not just have every job worth exactly the same income so we don’t have to have
government redistribution of wealth. Sounds dangerously like… well… communism.

Gary is just doing more of his dreaming that he has done for years.
He tries to act as if he knows something but in actuality he knows nothing.
He has done very lille for his County
and likes to run his mouth on any subject.
Just don’t take him seriously.

Wow I thought we screened better, how did this, closed minded person get this much air time? News flash it is 2008 not 1808, can we all move forward. No matter who wins this election, we have to agree change is well over due.
