All right ladies and gentleman of Manassas, Manassas Park and Prince William County, this is it ... the day we have all been waiting for, or, in some instances, dreading. Today is Nov. 4. It is time to
vote.
What more is there to say about today? Pollsters are firmly convinced that they know, within a certain margin of error, which candidate is leading where. Some are predicting a landslide for Barack
Obama; others say it is too soon to tell.
We would argue that it is way too early to tell. Polling might be able to give a good indication of what might happen, but until people actually cast their deciding votes, none of it matters.
To hear it talked about in much of the media, Election Day is somewhat anti-climactic and only a small portion of the election. But Election Day IS the election. This is where you decide. Up until now it
has been conjecture, speculation, scientific polling, talking heads, sound bites and experts galore ... but now it is time for you to pick your candidate.
So ignore all of the hype. And don’t think that is over. It has barely begun.
It is the civic duty of all citizens of the United States to vote. Whether you think your vote counts or not, now is the time to stand up and have it counted.
The last eight years in the life of the United States have been some of the most turbulent, historic and frightening in our history. Much of this reflects decisions that many of us made at the polling booth
four and eight years ago.
What will the next four or eight years bring? It is impossible to know. But whatever it is, you will all have a hand in it, whether you vote or not.
The question is, do you want your voice to be heard? Or do you want to be silent on the future of the United States?
