Who will take us to hell faster?

Politics is not about right versus left. It is not about Republicans versus Democrats. It is not about liberal versus conservative. It is not about the haves versus the have-nots, and it’s not about us versus
them. These are just how things are framed for public consumption.
Politics is about control versus freedom. Every time you vote you are deciding which candidate you want to allow the opportunity to take more of your freedoms away. This is not how things are supposed
to work; unfortunately that is how things actually do work.
When was the last time a politician cut the growth of government or reduced the number of laws? It just doesn’t happen. When these charlatans talk about cutting government, what they really mean is a
cut in the rate of growth.
Once in a blue moon we get a small reduction, but that is inevitably followed by even greater increases.
Which brings me to the question of who, in the upcoming election, will lead us to hell slower? Who is most likely to take away our individual freedom and money at a faster pace then his opponent?
I believe the answer is clear. Obama will lead us into the abyss faster than McCain. Backed by a Democrat controlled congress — oh heck, let’s just call it what it is — backed by a socialist Congress,
he will make great strides towards ruining the United States. It is possible Obama could do more damage in four years than FDR was able to do in four terms with his economically destructive New Deal
programs.
In case you think that I am part of the “vast right-wing conspiracy,” think again. I can’t stand the damage that either side causes to our nation.
The book Breach Of Trust by Tom Coburn (R-Oklahoma) provides examples of how slimy Newt Gingrich and Dick Armey were.
Due to the way our system has been designed by these self-serving politicians, individuals who would improve the system, reduce laws, and truly lower taxes (without killing the goose that lays the
golden eggs) will never be elected to the presidency. They are “unelectable” because they are unwilling to compromise the principles of limited government in exchange for securing the support of one of
the two major parties.
Barack Obama wants to tax the rich and give over 90 percent of Americans a tax cut.
He is trying to buy votes with a promise that can’t be kept. Even, if by some odd chance, he does get elected and keep this promise, the damage will be significant.
Taxing the rich will slow economic growth. The taxes that would be redistributed (which Obama commonly refers to as economic justice) are going to be cycled through our tremendously inefficient
bureaucracy. Whereas the rich would, in one way or another, put their excess holdings into investments (i.e.: jobs and capital), the Obama plan would essentially grind these investments to a halt.
Obama also talks about health care for everyone.
His idea is to create a system that would allow those who can not get health care, or cannot afford health care, the opportunity to obtain government provided (read: taxpayer subsidized) health insurance.
This system would quickly become overburdened. It would make the problems and shortfalls of Medicare look infinitesimally small in a very short time. It would eventually require even more government
interference as many companies would stop providing health insurance as a benefit (a boost to the bottom line since the government can take over that financial burden).
Most of Obama’s solutions to the problems we face in the United States have unintended, yet grave, consequences. Regrettably many Americans have jumped onto the socialist bandwagon due to a lack
of economic education.
What little education we receive in kindergarten through high school seldom includes economics, and when it does we are fed the horrendous theories of John Maynard Keynes. Truly tragic!
If Barack Obama is elected people are going to be shocked at what kind of “change” we will, in fact, experience.
I believe in change, just not socialist change. Government is the reason for many of the problems we face, and the true solution is less government, not more government.

When will Americans, represent and vote for America?
Basic rights and amendments, have been taken away, and rewritten.
We have a voice for Americans now, it is called the internet. We need representitives, but not with all the corruption that we tend to remember above others. We can pay bills online… why can’t we vote online?
Im sure many Americans vote for our new laws, and codes… but how many blue collar Americans really have a voice or opinion in what is happening. There must be change.

In eight years the Republicans have shredded the constitution, broke the military, corrupted the justice department, illegally wiretapped US citizens, taken us from budget surplus to the largest debt in history; suspended basic human rights, established a network of secret black-site prisons and institutionalized torture; unleashed an unjust and unnecessary war that has resulted in hundreds of thousands of deaths, left millions homeless and destroyed an entire country; left the citizens of New Orleans to suffer and die on their own for days after Katrina…
...but it’s the Democrats who are going to take us to hell faster?
Pretty obvious the Republicans have already won that race. Of course if you dig this kind of government, John McCain will be happy to see how deeper he can take us.

“after eight years of Republicans leading us into hell, our nation is in deep trouble and the only solution is - to put Republicans back in charge”
The fact that McCain is a Republican, it does not mean that he will do what Bush did. Reagan was a Republican too. Change your argument it does not work.

You can say whatever you want y encorage you to visit McCain web page and make a contribution, because after I visit Obama’s page and learn deeply about his plans and his economic reform, I will stay with McCain.

So after a long hiatus, Mr. Simpson surfaces to remind us that after eight years of Republicans leading us into hell, our nation is in deep trouble and the only solution is - to put Republicans back in charge.
Huh?
I’m actually amused by Mr. Simpson’s claim that Democrats will create a “Socialist” government. These past several months, our Republican-led administration has been socializing financial institutions one after the other. We now have two of our largest American financial institutions, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, nationalized so taxpayers can cover their debts, while the heads of these two failed institutions walk away with tens of millions of dollars in severance pay and bonuses.
Nothing to see here, please move along.
Once again, I’m left asking the question: Are columnists like Mr. Simpson the best this newspaper can do?

Higly ignorant Republican - whether he admits it or not.
I really enjoyed him knocking FDR, whom the Republicans have never gotten over. We had the depression - estimated 25% of workforce unemployed, - bank failures, etc etc. All from republican Hoover - “an upturn is just around the corner”. FDR saved this country from some sort of socialism communism, dictatorship. FDR was GREAT!! Simpson is just biased and ignorant of history, economics, etc.
Notice how he omits discussing what will or would happen if McCain were elected. More of the same Bush stuff? Well, the disaster is already here in that case. He omits talking about slimebag Bush because simpson is Republican. He’s just a toad and sycophant who has to cheer wildly for the party line.
I thought this clod was gone as a Pot News columnist.

First Mr. Simpson decries the growth of government intrusion into our lives and then in nearly the same breath condemns Sen. Obama for wanting to cut taxes for the Americans who need it the most. I find this level of doublethink impressive even having read Animal Farm and 1984. President Bush gave the richest Americans $40,000 tax breaks while most Americans got a measly $300 and look at our economy now (although the Iraq war probably has not helped either). This notion that the economy will suffer if the super-rich have to keep their 2009 BMWs for two years before trading up instead of just one would be grasping at straws even if we did not get to see the failure of trickle-down economics first-hand.
