Is Obama who he appears to be?
Sen. Barack Obama gave a speech in which he said “...instead of worrying about whether immigrants can learn English — they’ll learn English — you need to make sure your child can speak Spanish.” Is this a vision of the future?
Cast your vote for hope, not fear
A recent statement by Del. Jeff Frederick, who is also Chair of the Republican Party of Virginia, comparing Barack Obama to Osama Bin Laden, is not only a scurrilous slander, but also an obvious attempt to distract the voters of Virginia from the real issues in this campaign.

We must not lose our freedoms
I have been privileged to be born in America and to be able to worship without fear of molestation.
William Ayers does not apply
What does William Ayers, whoever he is, have to do with any of the following?
Obama bias clear in the newspaper
I am a subscriber of the News & Messenger for a couple of months now. I notice how biased your coverage is for the presidential candidates.
Americans are being led astray
I have to say it to you, folks, it looks like you’re being led down the proverbial “path,” and you are seemingly unaware where you are headed.
Vote Farrell and Naddoni
As the late House Speaker Thomas “Tip” O’Neill once said, “All politics is local.” In repeating the right-wing radio entertainers’ talking points, writer Chris Royse ignores Rep. O’Neill’s important point.
Writer is worried for United States
During the second presidential debate, and at other times during his remarks to the voting public, Sen. Barack Obama has intimated that his mother struggled to raise him and used food stamps in her attempt to provide sustenance.
GOP is just up to its same old tricks
I am surprised by the uproar over Del. Jeff Frederick’s comments linking Barack Obama to Osama bin Laden.
Warner is the right man
Not many politicians impress me nor do they keep their word once elected. When I vote, I want to know my voice is being heard and that’s why I’m voting for and endorsing Mark Warner for U.S. Senate in November.
Abortions will go up with Obama
Third graders in Virginia are taught that a human life begins with the union of sperm and egg, yet Sen. Barack Obama stated at Saddleback Church in California this past August that the question of when
life begins was “above his pay grade.”
Sarah Palin can’t be trusted to lead
Sarah Palin is taking off the gloves and punching Sen. Obama for associating with a radical from the 1960s who did his deeds when Obama was eight years old!
Obama tax plan is a bad idea
Joe Biden is right, “it is our patriotic duty to pay taxes!” After all, our government is “by the people, for the people” and so, it should be financed by all the people.
Where has John McCain gone?
What happened to the hero of my youth, the man who walked off a plane, still brave and unbowed?
Vandal victim deserved better
I would like to expand on the letter from the Chura family that appeared in these pages on Oct. 12. In their letter, they cite how a Republican “volunteer’s car was…badly damaged by ‘keying’” at Republican headquarters on Prince William Parkway.
Paper wrong to criticize Dumfries
The newspaper’s recent editorial criticizing the Dumfries Town Council for allowing another town manager to leave has no merit.
Frederick invokes disgust in reader
It was with a mixture of disgust and embarrassment that I read Del. Jeff Frederick’s recent statement comparing Barack Obama to Osama Bin Laden in Time magazine.
Supervisors must pick right priorities
It’s a clear equation: Bad times = high crime. Mr. Singstock is on target with his letter taking the County Board of Supervisors to task for cutting the public security budget on par with social entitlements.

So you say you are a Christian?
I take great exception to Mr. Neal‘s letter in which he states “If you are a true Christian and believe that abortion and same-sex marriage is a sin, you will be held accountable before God himself on how you vote in November.”
BOCS decision was a wrong one
I’m writing today to register my disgust with the decision by a majority of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors (BOCS) to approve Robert Duecaster, a leader in Help Save Manassas, to serve on the county’s Strategic Goals Taskforce.
Liberals need to explain support
Come on, liberals. Tell me why you support an “empty suit” like Barack Obama. Here are some facts:

When will an apology come?
Recently, the Washington Post and Time magazine reported Virginia’s GOP Chairman Jeffrey M. Frederick’s comments comparing Sen. Barack Obama to Osama bin Laden when he stated that, “Both have friends who bombed the Pentagon. That is scary.” As we know, this remark is a VERY distorted and oft refuted association between Obama and the 1960s radical, William Ayers.
Paper again reveals bias
Many people have a political bias, and that is to be expected. However, I was under the impression that the newspaper’s purpose was not to promote their own bias, but to report the news.

Wolf represents, leads constituents
Judy Feder is running again. In the 1990s, she supported the national health care program that failed in Congress because of the costs to build government operations to replace private sector operations.
Nurses are the heroes
Nurses are powerful, courageous, compassionate, caring, dedicated, critical thinkers, who devote their lives to helping others.

Obama doesn’t know many things
Is it me? Or does anyone else see that Barack Obama answers a lot of questions with “I didn’t know?”

Political thoughts, national security
Election 2008 approaches. Prince William is a battlefield county in a battlefield state. It spans much of Virginia’s districts.
Enough is enough with Frederick
What this paper failed to do today in its article regarding Delegate Frederick, is to give the complete story to our residents on what the Republican Party under Frederick’s leadership has done in the past week to raise tensions in Virginia.
Let’s raise the level of discourse
John Barnes, I don’t get it. Someone having a different opinion should not warrant a “village idiot” remark.
