“I am a conservative. I could never vote for the most liberal Democrat in Congress.” I’ve heard this said over and again. Let me show you why it is precisely the liberal Democrat you need to vote for if you truly espouse conservative principles.

In response to Kenneth L. Denton’s letter (Sept. 11) accusing me of trying to suggest that I was “privy to the workings” of Senator McCain’s selection of Governor Sarah Plain, I have never claimed to have such access nor have I sought it.

The recent article published in the Potomac News & Manassas Journal titled “Dumfries’ councilwoman’s taxing problem” (Sept. 20) was an eye opener.

Ok, let me get the rules straight. A woman who is successful, whether in business or politics is a great thing, but only if she is a liberal Democrat. Do I have that right?

The Potomac News and the Manassas Journal Messenger continue to prove that the media is so biased in their support of the liberal agenda.

In serving with The Salvation Army for over 25 years, I have found that the best way to experience the Holiday Spirit is by “Ringing The Bells” at Christmas time. 

I agreed totally with Leonard Pitts’ article about how language has lost all meaning in our political discourse. And, how dangerous that is. He nailed that.

Recently, I received a letter from the Prince William County Real Estate Assessment Division saying I must provide “Proof of Legal Presence” in the United States, if I want to continue qualifying for the Tax Relief Program for “Elderly and Disabled Persons.”

Ms. Dorothea Barr, the Dumfries Council member, and Congressman Charlie Rangel (D) from New York apparently have the same opinion when it comes to paying taxes!

I would like Virginia citizens to know that they may be eligible for a refund for the illegally collected taxes that they might have paid to the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority (NVTA) in January and February of 2008.

John McCain has a plan for America. That plan is change.

Not so long ago, many national and local Democrats were telling us the Iraqi war was lost and a dead end.

In reference to Gary Jacobsen’s September 16 column: Why have comprehensive sex education in high schools, when we have self-proclaimed OB/GYN expert Gary Jacobsen running his Planned Parenthood infomercials in the Potomac News? 

Is anyone else out there tired of the huge “fuel” charges on their Dominion Virginia Power bill? I began to notice a significant increase to my bill in recent months and, upon inquiry, discovered the increase was caused by a “fuel” charge that has been $150.00 or more on each of my past two bills.

I am glad to see the column on Dumfries Council member Dorothea Barr!

One of my favorite features is the Friday animal shelter piece by Nancy White. As a fellow animal person and over 10 years as a rescue foster home and volunteer, I’m always interested in what she has to say. 

Look around! Did you see anything that did not use energy? Our quality of life is energy dependent. Clearly our 70 percent dependence on foreign oil is a downright crazy risk and far too expensive.

This political campaign is comparable to “mud wrestling.” Except, mud wrestling” is cleaner. Never have I seen a campaign as mean, cruel and ugly.

On behalf of the Prince William Regional Chamber of Commerce, I commend the recent decision to merge the Potomac News and Manassas Journal Messenger into one paper, reflecting that while Prince William may have many different components, we are indeed one community.

First, thank you for helping us to publish positive statements regarding Prince William in recent months. We think it is so important for people to remember/focus on the many positive attributes that our community has going for it.

Democrats in the House have come up with a solution for our future energy. This energy bill, HR 6899, is in honor of the hypocrisy that brought this Congress to the lowest level of approval in history under the lead of Nancy Pelosi.

Now is the time for all good men — and newspapers — to come to the aid of their party.

As we all know school has started, and in this first week my wife and I face the same questions. Why is it so difficult for the high schools to put out a detailed list of required school supplies?

Unlike Keith’s opponent, Keith Fimian is not a career politician and he is not a member of the political establishment. While Keith’s opponent was busy mismanaging Fairfax County finances for more than five years, Keith fimian was busy managing a thriving small business.

I would like to take this time to personally thank the man that helped my parents after my father became ill in the Aldie’s parking lot, getting a wheel chair and assisting my father back to his car. 

It appears Swami Gary Jacobsen looked into his crystal ball (probably a snow globe) and has pronounced Senator Obama as the “abundantly clear” next president, and goes on to list nine topics he bets are high on Obama’s list for the first 100 days in office.

Hey, John McCain, is your choice of Sarah Palin, from Wasilla, Alaska, your idea of a 72nd birthday joke?
