Newspaper tries to be fair, but it messed up big time with letter on Obama according to this letter writer.

After years of trying to seek help for my mentally ill brother, I was so relieved when I heard the news that effective July 1, the mental health system was changing to make it easier to get help for the mentally ill. 

It is hard to understand the motivation for the “Only in P.W. County” editorial cartoon of July 11. 

There is a saying political mudslingers believe in completely. It goes like this: “Repeat a lie often enough and it will be believed.” On July 11, the Potomac News printed a letter from A. Vic Poillucci, (On Barack Obama and patriotism) that repeats a LIE which has been floating around the Internet for months. 

A. Vic Poillucci’s letter to the editor (published on July 11) questioned Senator Obama’s patriotism and quoted as proof a statement by him that, among other things, suggested he would be willing to accept “I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing” as a substitute for our National Anthem. 

This letter is in response to the letter written by C.P. Brothers III in the July 10 issue of this paper.

There is $800,000 in a contingency fund that could be used to fund the $233,000 Manassas Senior Day Program today if the top officials in our Prince William County government desired to do so. 

Recent events have caused many to start asking — Who are these “Brown” people and why are they here?

Sandi Teets, not satisfied with her attempt to besmirch the good name of Senator Barack Obama, has now decided that I do not have a sense of humor because I did not think her “sarcastic” opinion letter was funny, “Ha, Ha.”

In last fall’s election, “I DO NOT SUPPORT any increase in the gas tax” was how Chuck Colgan “set the record straight” during his re-election campaign for the Virginia Senate seat that represents most of Prince William County. 

Why do the Supervisors feel the eastern end of the county is more worthy than those of the Western end? We are the western end, not the WEALTHY end.

I have read some ridiculous letters in your newspaper lately regarding Barrack Obama. But a recent letter from A. Vic Poillucci just might take the cake. 

Mr. Brothers III, as a local, an employee of Old Dominion Speedway. I only wish when shown your future home that you had taken the time to drive around the community, or perhaps the sellers had the foresight to mention the track. 

Why should Northern Virginia counties get $150 million transportation dollars to Hampton Roads $300 million dollars? How does our state determine what the fair and equitable distribution of transportation dollars is? 

Why is it that I’m paying more than one third in real estate tax on a home that my dad built and paid for debt free (including the land) at about $9,800 back in 1957? Keep in mind there has been no added structure to the home. 

I can save health officials — who are still trying to pinpoint the exact cause of the recent salmonella outbreak that has sickened more than 800 people in 36 states — both time and money. It’s the meat, stupid! 

Remember all the media hype about record numbers of democratic voter turnout for the primaries? 

People seem to never get tired of blaming illegal immigrants for their personal lives just because they can’t make ends meet. 

Much has been written, in the columns of this paper, regarding how one displays patriotism, especially those who wear a lapel pin — or in the case of the presidential candidate, Mr. Obama, the lack of one. This entire thing is nonsense.

Year after year, several evenings a week from March to October, Prince William County refuses to enforce its own laws. 

Recently the European Union made a legal decision to detain illegal immigrants for up to 18 months before deporting them.

If ever there was an opportunity for Delegates Frederick and Lingamelter to represent and support their constituents in Eastern Prince William County — the families and hard working people of Woodbridge and Dale City, NOW is the time. 

I submitted a Joint Resolution during the 2008 General Assembly session to study the costs, benefits and impacts of bringing Metro to Woodbridge and Potomac Mills. 

For months the Dale City Civic Association Parade Committee planned, staffed, organized, directed and controlled the creation of this beautiful display of Americana.

You probably believe that your kids aren’t abusing drugs.  I’ve got news for some of you.  They are.

Seldom do I agree with Potomac News columnist Charles Reichley, but I found his column “Questioning patriotism” (Potomac News, July 3) particularly shallow and partisan. 

Mr. Powell, my Letter to the Editor was meant to be sarcastic (Webster’s Online Dictionary defines that as meaning to make fun of something or somebody.). 

I read Sandi Teets letter (June 28) and have thought about it for a few days. The one part of the letter that stood out to me was this: “And Barack is a Jr., so the apple can’t fall far from the tree.
