Clarifying some biblical ideas
In response to Barbara Peacock’s letter in a recent paper regarding “spreading the wealth around,” there are just a few things to clarify regarding her biblical applications.
Sketch pad was old news, false
The Sketch Pad cartoon on page A6 of Tuesday’s paper, besides being almost two months late, contained some falsehoods.
The rich, the bible and Election Day
Both Barack Obama and John McCain love this country; however, important differences remain.
Virginia will not turn blue Tuesday
I was reading the Oct. 14 issue and was surprised at the headline about “voters singing the blues.” You wrote “… the Commonwealth and historically Republican Prince William County will turn the corner into staunch Democratic territory.” Where do you get this information?
Democrat is the way to go Nov. 4
Those of us that vote in the 11th Congressional District have the opportunity this year to help elect the type of leaders that this country desperately needs.

Political vandals in City of Manassas
I take exception to this newspaper’s equating the spray painting of McCain supporters’ homes with the changing of Obama signs to read Osama — more of a prank than malicious destruction of property.
Questioning MP endorsement
I am writing to question the judgment of your paper when you endorsed Polk, Miller and Leeper for Manassas Park City Council.
Democrat voting for John McCain
I am a registered Democrat but am voting for McCain this year.
McCain is not the change we need
My major disappointment with the Bush administration has been his failure to unite us as a nation. Instead, he purposely divided us with his administration’s arrogant partisan policies and behavior.

Place the blame where it belongs
America has been heading toward this economic crisis for decades and this election will play a major part in determining how long it will last.
Do research before voting on Tuesday
The Oct. 26 article, “Where they stand” does a great disservice to Virginians as they prepare to go to the polls on Nov. 4.
Don’t give up right to elect treasurer
Over 300 years ago, our legislative forefathers had the foresight to create the constitutional officer concept as a check and balance system on local government.

Where is all of the Christian support?
In response to Robin Touchet’s statement that people who vote for McCain and Palin are hateful, fearful and ignorant, only one word comes to my mind. That is “liberal!”
Thank you for letting me decide
I appreciated your non-endorsement of either candidate. It is nice that you will let us decide on the facts.
What to consider on Election Day
On Tuesday, Americans will have the opportunity to vote in what many are calling the most important election of our lifetime. And as the polls and news media seem ready to call the elections decided, many may ask “why vote?”
Stand up and vote for Keith Fimian
Virginians need to stand up to the left wing on Nov. 4 and vote Keith Fimian for our 11th District Congressman. Voters need the small business background in Congress, not the big government socialism of the Democrats.
Connolly can bring about real change
As Chairman of the Board of Supervisors for the past four years of one of the biggest counties in the United States, Fairfax’s own Gerry Connolly can truly bring about the real change that Americans are looking for.

Virginia limelight
The focus on Virginia from the presidential candidates gets to be a bit much.
Obama’s magical mystery ride
Barack Obama is a risk we cannot afford to take. He’s campaigning on bringing us change, but what kind of change? Going for any old change for change’s sake alone, is, to quote an old saying, “a heck of a way to run a railroad.”
Paper does not support choice
In May you published an “Our View” opinion piece criticizing the Manassas Democrats for not fielding a candidate for the Manassas City Council race. You stated that the people in this area need choice. Well, for the first time in more than 22 years, choice is part of the Manassas Park City Council ballot.
Keep incumbents in Manassas Park
Manassas Park residents, when you cast your vote on Nov. 4, please cast them for incumbent City Council members Bill Treuting, Keith Miller and Bryan Polk and incumbent Mayor Frank Jones.
Vandals need to start growing up!
I am appalled by the lack of respect for a person’s private property and freedom of speech that I am seeing in this city and county.
Endorsement made no sense
I did not understand your reasoning for discounting Mr. Peter Farrell’s business experience over Mr. Keith Miller’s.

Please put a stop to the harassment
I am being harassed by the Democratic Party! Every other day, for at least month, someone has been at my door.
Price gouged in Manassas Park
As a resident of Manassas Park, I would like to let your readers know about the highway robbery going on. The city council voted for a water services rate increase.
Vote yes on the referendum
My name is George Adamson. I am the elected treasurer of the City of Manassas Park and will be retiring on Dec. 1.
Keep the team together in MP
I have been a subscriber to the newspaper for years and until now have never written a letter to the editor. After much consideration, I could not permit this error to remain unchallenged.
Editor’s note
Today is the last day that we will accept endorsement letters. The last day we will print endorsement letters will be Nov. 2.

Irksome churches seek our money
It really irks me when a group of tax exempt churches from Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax and Prince William (called VOICE) would pressure our county board for taxpayer funds to support their mission.
Fear of liberal Democrat takeover
As this election season comes to an end, I have a nagging question that has not been answered.
