On Sunday, I attended the first concert of the newly formed Dominion Symphony Orchestra and the concert was wonderful. The soloists and the orchestra performed beautifully together and I enjoyed their musical selections. Let us welcome this group to Prince William County by attending their concerts, and let us support them by spreading the word about a new professional group in our area.

What classifies a “professional” orchestra? Are the musicians paid? How much? Are a certain number performing musicians only? What percentage? Do the ticket prices reflect the quality of the group? If these are the only requirements, then there are many “professional” performing groups ( bands, orchestras and choirs)here already. Let us continue to support what is already here and struggling to survive. Go to http://www.pwcparks.org/ArtsLeisure/ArtsCouncil/tabid/66/Default.aspx to see the choices!
