A nation of laws that must be respected

This is in response to the letter, “No desire for your sympathy or respect,” by Ruben Pineda.
Before someone speaks ill of the USA, get the facts correct. Whoever wrote the above mentioned article has made incorrect statements through being uneducated about the USA. Legal citizens have the
right to cry and expect sympathy from our fellow Americans. Legal citizens have earned this right.
The United States of America is a nation of Laws. What part of “legal” and “laws “ do illegal Mexicans not understand? The legal citizens would be able to make ends meet if the illegal Mexicans
didn’t sneak across the border illegally, do menial work and receive low wages, lower wages than an American will accept. The American employer has no interest in the illegal worker, except that they
work for less wages than Americans, making the American employer wealthy.
Americans have worked hard for hundreds of years to make the USA what it is today. The Mexicans have no idea what hard work is. If Mexicans work so hard, then go back to Mexico and work hard to
build your nation. Mexicans want the easy way out so they sneak into the USA illegally and do agriculture work (harvesting crops) because it requires little effort. If Mexicans want to work in the USA,
then go through the legal process and become an American. You will never be an American because you stated you believe that your Mexican culture and some aspects of American culture are the
best in the world. Get it correct this time: the best culture in the entire world is American. Since you believe your Mexican culture is the best in the world, then go back to Mexico and quit your crying!
Quit complaining about Americans and go back to Mexico or sneak to another nation and take your $3,000 with you. Complain to another nation about its culture. In your free time, after harvesting
crops illegally in the USA, study American history so the next time you want to cry and complain illegally about legal Americans, you might know the correct facts.
And what’s this about you don’t understand why the legal American citizens continue to attack people that are the first ones to touch our food? What is meant by that statement?

cobra, be it lettuce, slaughtering meat or picking crabs, the cost of labor is reflected in the cost of the final product. If you look back in history these jobs were filled by uneducated Americans. As our educational systems have improved and become more inclusive (since the Civil Rights Act of 1964) we have fewer and fewer “uneducated” Americans available for these labor jobs. Hence, businesses now import labor from other countries. Really, the best way to stop illegal immigration is for white, middle class pencil-pushers to give up their air-conditioned environments and middle class paychecks and hit the fields and fast food counters - driving the immigrant laborers from these minimum wage jobs. I’ll bet someone with a Masters Degree would catch on quick to “hold the pickles hold the lettuce, special orders don’t upset us”. I’ll be looking for your name tag too at McFasts.

Of course my initial response would be to say move with your family to southern Virginia if their way of life is better suited to your desires, but I like having you as a neighbor too much to suggest that

Ray,
Quit the BS about $5 head of lettuce. That internet myth has been disputed many times. As stated above, Mexicans run from their own country. They will never march in the street in Mexico City demanding change but they sure have the guts to march in our streets. Typical traitor rants from phdeebag and the other two who defend law breakers. Imagine that, old phdeebag accusing someone of being ignorant. Man ain’t that calling the kettle black. Was just in Southern VA a week or so ago to a conference. All fast food restaurants were staffed with American kids and not 50 year old Mexican woman with a 6th grade education. Hotel staffs were also American Citizens. What a nice change of pace not having to have an interrupter to talk to the staff. PW County is coming back nicely. Effective July, all jurisdictions in VA are required to notify ICE when a foreigner is detained. Hmm, I guess PW County was ahead of the curve on this issue. Ray’s title business should be picking up soon as people are moving to PW County.

Poor thing. She doesn’t understand or recall American history. She forgets slavery, racism, discrimination against immigrants, civil war, worker exploitation, and just about everything in the ugly psst. She attempts to wrap it up in “hard work” allegations. She doesn’t rememb er the “bow ties” however. How sad.

Mrs. Meir you are absolutely correct about illegal immigrants. You should write Supervisor Principi and Martin Nohe who are attempting to backstab the citizens of Prince William County by weakening our illegal immigrant resolution.
Supervisor Nohe lied to the residents of Prince William County about his committment to our resolution!!!!!

Ellen, if you or others would like to get more educated and participate in a discussion, please think of attending the upcoming film series at George Mason:

Sigh, here we go again with another ignorant LTE writer. American businesses hire illegal workers for two reasons, neither of which is to “make the American employer wealthy”.
Not withstanding all the issues of getting an undocumented employee on the payroll, the first reason employers hire low-paid employees is TO KEEP THE COST OF PROVIDING SERVICE TO YOU LOWER. See Ms. Meir, you are the one to benefit, not the “wealthy American employer”. Do you want $6/hr workers at McFast Foods and a 99 cent burger or $12/hr workers and a $2 burger? Do you want a $2 head of farm lettuce or a $5 head of lettuce picked from the field? Do you want paid health insurance, sick days and vacation pay for all the workers at Low*Prices or do YOU want to save a buck on toilet paper? Businesses serve the consumer. Consumers set the prices by their shopping decisions.
Consumers such as yourself Ms. Meir also drive the labor market. Each time a home owner uses an independent house cleaning service, lawn service or hires college kids to paint their home, they are stealing from American businesses. Why? So the consumer can save a dollar.
Reason two is that Americans are not attracted to entry level jobs. With our higher educational levels, we qualify for more skilled positions, making it difficult for employers to hire Americas for basic work. Not many legal secretaries are going to give up their office job to restock shelves at Low*Prices - although you may be the exception. I’ll look for your name tag next time I get a McFast burger.
