A sarcastic thanks for clearing our community

I am a 17-year-old caucasian girl who has lived in Manassas my whole life. I just want to say thank you for allowing the white, self-righteous and supremacist legal citizens of this fine, upstanding county
to once again have the important jobs back, like fast food and construction. I know it has always been my dream to work the drive through at my neighborhood McDonald’s and now you have made that
dream more possible. I am so proud to be a part of a city that is taking a stand against those pesky brown people. I was riding in the car with my Hawaiian friend when we got pulled over so the nice
policeman could make sure she wasn’t an illegal Latina. I know that in my heart I couldn’t be more thankful for those new laws that you helped pass to racially profile everyone with dark skin. Gee, I don’t
even know why I’m friends with her.
I know that no one who eats tacos and burritos can be a good person. I mean hey, I don’t want that new Chipotle on Liberia Avenue! These people just need to go back to Mexico and take their children.
They deserve to starve, be in constant danger, and have a poor education.
After all, they were born in an inferior country! I don’t want any new customs in my life.
I want to be closed-minded and be surrounded by my pasty friends forever. Please get that diversity away from me!
Now people say that all Americans immigrated here. Well that may be true, but at least all of mine spoke English when they came here! Oh wait… except for my Danish, French, and German relatives.
But no matter, at least it wasn’t Spanish. When I was in high school and I was trying to learn another language, I had the hardest time and struggled through all three years. I hardly remember any of that
language, but who cares? Learning a second language may be really hard for anyone, but it doesn’t matter if your first language was English.
Now I look around my upper middle-class neighborhood and see that there are far fewer children for my neighbors to play with. But I rest assured knowing that when they play tag, they won’t get tagged
by Latino cooties anymore.
Next, we should give them disease-infested blankets; it worked when we wanted to get rid of Native Americans.
Thank you once again for your efforts to cleanse our community,
SUZIE ESKELUND

Alanna,
Sorry if I was harsh, but being a Democrat in PWC is lonely enough without getting bashed by a Republican who shares my opinion of HSM and the resolution. I enjoy your blog!
Apology accepted.

NEtoVA,
Point taken.
I apologize if I offended anyone with my comments. It’s odd that HSM claims to be non-partisan but yet anyone that disagrees with them immediately is labeled as a Democrat.

Dear Ms. Alanna aka AntiBVBL.net,
I know nothing of your party affiliations - but I consider you to be a bleeding heart liberal.
The problem is not with our immigration laws, it is with the funding of the department that handles immigration. Therein lies the problem - lack of funding.
America can accept or refuse citizenship to any person.
Please remember that being an American citizen is a PRIVILEGE and NOT a RIGHT.

“I certainly am not whining and I certainly have moved on. My posts and LTEsare always logical and fact-based, unless I don’t see the point ofattempting a logical fact-based debate. I happen to consider Anonmom and MikeG two fact-free individuals, only worth mocking.“
Charest, you are incredible. You’re so pompous and self-centered; you can’t even hear how ridiculous you sound lately. I have remained quiet for a while now, just watching the posts and enjoying reading your constant assertions about how you were wronged, how you aren’t bitter, that you’re not whining, and that you’ve “moved on.“ In fact, you are so into yourself, so into your “fact-based, logical” self, you have no time for anything else, particularly for others (not just me) who see through your brand of logic and facts. I don’t care what you believe; if you feel I’ve attacked you, then I guess I’ll just have to live with the shame of knowing I hurt your feelings. But quit your whining, man; quit looking for excuses and scapegoats for your incredibly transparent shortcomings. I don’t care if you were run out of Mississippi on a rail. Your past experiences have apparently been a bitter pill for you to swallow. But don’t drag me into your swirling vortex of self pity and blame. You’re the architect of your own destruction, and if anyone is mocking you, listen carefully; it’s only you bleating in the wind.

Mr. Charest:
Well played, sir. Much better. I applaud your effort.

Alanna,
I agree with the substance of your letter, and you are doing good work at antibvbl.net but, please, tell my what compelled you to write that you are “no leftist, bleeding heart liberal”? Does your self-description as a “pro-life Christian Republican” bulk up your credentials somehow?
Let me remind you that “Christian Republicans” (I won’t flatter them with the description “pro-life” because nothing they’ve done warrants such high praise) on our BOCS —and via HSM and FAIR— drafted and steered through the now-notorious Rule of Law resolution. We are all suffering the consequences of their interpretation of Christian Republican principles.
Seems to me they would all do well to incorporate a healthy dose of kind-hearted liberalism (as opposed to the bleeding-heart kind that is so often maligned) in their public works. If they did that, western PWC might still have its Senior Day Care.
I think you might want to keep in mind that leftist bleeding-hear liberals comprise a good chunk of your blog’s readership.
Please don’t undermine your efforts to unify the county by resorting to partisan talking points. After all, the president of HSM also lays claim to the pro-life Christian Republican mantle.

Ms. Kipp,
I disagree that there’s nothing wrong with our immigration laws. I have had first-hand experience with immigration issues which pre-date the 1996 passage of IIRIRA.
Under our current system we have spouses of our armed service members under theat of deportation, we have green card holders suing the federal government because their Citizenship paperwork is not being processed in a timely manner, we have people approved but waiting a decade for entry into the Country. These examples are indicative of a systemic failure that goes beyond your ‘enforcement only’ concerns.
And you know better than anyone, I’m not a leftist, bleeding heart liberal democrat. I’m a pro-life, Christian Republican who happens to have an opinion that’s different than yours.
Thanks.

gwen.and.gary,
I brought up this incident as a side issue in response to a personal question from Anonmom, and was then put in the position of amplifying the details as response to two (2) extremely rude and personal attacks on me (Anonmom and MikeG), challenging the details of this incident. In fact, their personal attacks in this forum were not unlike the personal attacks I received at my former company in Mississippi; up to and including their comments that losing a job is appropriate retaliation for having opinions Conservatives don’t like.
I certainly am not whining and I certainly have moved on. My posts and LTEs are always logical and fact-based, unless I don’t see the point of attempting a logical fact-based debate. I happen to consider Anonmom and MikeG two fact-free individuals, only worth mocking.
And I certainly don’t need you to tell me what’s appropriate for posting.

To continually restate and justify your position (right? wrong? it’s become so annoying as to be rather pointless at this juncture!) could well be interpreted as “whining”. It certainly tends to nullify the legitimacy of any argument or debate.
Make your point, and let it go. We’re all painfully aware by now of the circumstances that brought you to Virginia, all generated by a bumper sticker that appeared in the wrong place at the wrong time. Right or wrong, one cannot undo what’s been done in your case.
There would be much benefit in letting this incident go, and moving on—benefit not only to you, but all of us as well. Continuing to use this incident as a justification for your arguments when your logic runs out is simply sad.
As someone who respects fact and accuracy, I hope to see more fact and less self-pity in your future entries.
