Barack Obama: A wolf in sheep’s clothing?

My letter is in response to Larry Remener’s letter on June 8, when he came to Obama’s defense of why it doesn’t matter that Obama REFUSES to wear an American flag pin. Mr. Remener — have you
ever wore a pin bearing the American flag?

I have, and when putting it on my jacket or shirt, I feel overwhelming pride in my country. I am so proud to wear that flag, and I am so lucky I live here in the United States of America.

I love wearing the red, white and blue. It reminds me of what a great country I live in, the outright freedom I feel to do whatever I am capable of and it reminds me of those who fought for me, who don’t
know me, have never met me, but they feel this urge to protect me and my way of life here in America. I thank them for that freedom.

Maybe the reason Obama REFUSES to wear an American flag pin is because he does not feel that America is what he thinks it should be. He feels it should be changed. He hopes that the American
people think so, too.

That is NOT how a real American-blooded person feels and not how we would treat our precious flag. He is not wearing the flag pin because he just doesn’t have one. He is not wearing the flag pin
because he REFUSES to.

Maybe Obama is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. He might lure you to the voting booth, but watch out when he bites your hand. There are warning bells going off in your head, but you are going to vote for him
anyway. Don’t complain when we end up being a socialist country where the American flag is not flown over OUR White House.

As your president, he will NOT put his hand over his heart when he hears the Star Spangled Banner.  Is that your idea of someone representing you and your country?

I think I will go out and buy myself an American Flag pin today, and wear it every day. According to Mr. Remener, that makes me an idiot. I think the idiots are those who are buying into what Obama is
selling and making excuses for why he should be our commander in chief.

Ms. Walker appears to have selectively obtained her information from anti-Obama emails—the same one that claims he’s really a Muslim, emphasizes his middle name Hussein in all caps, and all of the other stuff of fiction that right-wingers (and some leftie good ol’ boys and welfare-dependent white trailer park types; before you jump to conclusion, I lived most of my chidhood in predominantly white low income, blue-collar trailor parks) and white supremicists (KKK, neo-Nazis, etc..) like to spread.

I’m active duty military (20 years of service) and an independent.  I’m not thrilled about either McCain or Obama—their basically the same, RepubliCrats!  I have seen all kinds of false info on both candidates—most of this cow dung is created by fringe groups on both sides of the political landscape and is baseless information.  People need to get their info from reliable sources not emails or politically-charged websites.  Try a variety of news services, radio, print, televsion, and online, such as the Washington Post, MSNBC, Fox, National Public Radio, Wall Street Journal.  Don’t rely on Rush Limbaugh or others like him to convey their distroted version of the news!

By the way, I agree with some of the others that you don’t have t wear a flag pin (most are made in China, as someone alrady noted)  to show your patriotism.  He does not wear it on principal, if you’d read the expanation on FOX (even though FOX tends to have a right-wing slant on things). However, if you noticed that the US flag is incorporated into Obama’s campaign symbol

You beat me to it jVA. I think this is what they call a Freudian Slip. ejben, a jester is a “professional fool” according to my Webster’s Dictionary. I believe you meant to say “gesture” which Webster’s takes to mean “to convey a state of mind”. But the irony is priceless. Well done.

ejben,
The expression police will be knocking on your door soon.
It is not, “a hard road to haul”, it is, “a hard row to hoe”.
I am old enough to remember having hard rows to hoe.

Castro, Chavez, Hu Jintao and anyone else can use the American flag pin , they can also destroy and burn the American flag, is simple they are not Americans, they hate America .Once you wear your American flag lapel pin or display your American flag in front of your house do not matter who made it , it has a meaning , it is a symbol it represent your nation your pride your liberty. Probably for some of you it is a piece of metal or a piece of fabric, not for me. I do not care if Obama use or not his flag, but I care about the reasons that make him to stop using his pin. It might be an inspiration from his spiritual father Reverend Wright .....  United States of KKK

I just hope everyone who is wearing our national flag as clothing or jewelry is treating it in accordance with federal regulations for use and display of our flag.  Those guidelines include:

- Never let it touch the ground or become soiled
- If displayed at night, keep a light shining on it
- fold it properly in accordance with federal regulations
- When worn or damaged beyond use, dispose of by burning in accordance with federal guidelines.

I have no doubt that the Chinese factory workers making flag pins and decals are doing the same.

I wear my American Flag Pin. I have several different kinds. I have given them to friends and they are really appreciate of this jester.
We have a hard road to haul this election, but we have to be careful we are not sold down the drain.
There have been warning signs from Obama
so be careful.

I’ve never worn an American flag pin, but I have worn clothing with the American flag on it & & wore a uniform of our armed forces for 20 years & 7 days. Hu Jintao can wear an American flag pin anytime he pleases, a great many of those pins are made in the People’s Republic of China.
I don’t feel that this country is what it should be, I would like to see changes & I would hope that the majority of the American people feel the same.
I will not vote for Obama because the changes I want do not seem to be the changes he wants.
Go out & buy that pin, Ms. Walker, just be sure you know where it was made.

Funny thing, that no one is complaining about Sen McCain, or just about any other Republican official, who doesn’t wear a made-in-China American Flag Lapel pin.

I guess the rules are just different for Democrats.  Bye-the-way, as a Veteran, I don’t wear an American Flag lapel pin. I think showing pride in our nation is demonstrated by things like, you know, serving our country in military or peaceful civic service.

Sen Obama, as a top Harvard Law School graduate, worked as a community organizer earning far less money than he could have, than he could have in a top law firm representing wealthy lawbreakers.  He demonstrated pride in our nation through civic service.  If only more Republicans did the same.
