Bold and out of the box pick

On his very own birthday; his VP pick’s 20th anniversary; and almost to the day 87 years after women were allowed to vote, John McCain did not disappoint. His bold and out-of-the-box choice of Sarah
Palin, the first female Governor of Alaska and the first ever female vice presidential nominee for the Republican Party, has really set the stage for, what I expect to be, a well contested race, decided on
issues.
Consider the following: the fact that Barry has only about three years in the Senate has been countered twice. Once by his selection of Biden (35 years in the Senate) and McCain’s choice of Palin (only
two-years as Governor) which should take the “experience” issue off the table and allow both Barry and McCain to get to the gut wrenching issues that most Americans are concerned about -— terrorism,
the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, high gas prices, education.
The women of America, especially those Hillary supporters who were thrown under the bus by Barry and his staff, should be delighted. Voters will have a clear choice between the inexperienced Senator
and a real “inside the beltway” guy and the other side offering an individual minded party maverick, American hero and his choice for VP — a female executive with no ties to the Washington “good old
boy” network and who has a personal story to tell.
Rather than abort her down-syndrome son — Sarah chose to give birth and describes Trigg, her son, a blessing that “looks perfect to me.”
Now that both Democrats and Republicans have solidified their 1 and 2 positions, I’m anxious, and will listen with great intent for solutions to our problems that will move America forward.

Ron Charest—
I think you, of all people, should be the LAST person lecturing ANYONE about “respect”. Your post made me laugh out loud—thanks, I needed that!
Your fear is palpable, and I understand.
Regarding Obama’s “vetting”—where is the in=depth reporting on his relationship with Ayres or his actual record of quantifiable accomplishments—oh, that’s right—he doesn’t have any.
Let’s see where Obama is today:
-hmmm. backtracked on the Russian-Georgia crisis, and ended up at the same place as McCain did—w/o the need for “nuance” and backtracking.
—finally decided the surge was a success—confirming McCain’s gut reaction—while at the same time working desperately to gut the funding our troops needed to accomplish the mission. Sorry, didn’t appreciate the backstabbing there, BO.
—has come out today that after some “reflection” and “nuanced thought”, he is backtracking on his statement about his “economic” plan and decided that maybe revoking the tax cuts would have to be postponed—making his position the same as McCain’s
—is trying to market his more “nuanced” position on abortion and “flesh out” his statement at the Saddleback forum—hey, BO, as CIC, there is NO decision that is “above your paygrade”—the buck stops at 1600.
So, BO has gone around in circles and ended up in the same place as McCain on key issues.
I prefer my CIC and President to already have taken the training wheels off.
Thanks anyway.

i am always amazed how those opposed to womens rights flock to the flame of pro-life like moths to a candle - and with as much thought to their action.
if charles manson ran on a pro-life platform, the silly right would hold him up as the second coming of Jesus.
sarah palin is no hillary clinton and those bright enough to support hillary will not be duped by sarah. so where does that leave the republican party? right back where they started from. the faithful will stay faithful, those not inclined to stay the course of the past eight years will look forward to new leadership direction. the further these people run from Bush, they run right back to his arms. too funny.

BHappy,
You really need to chill. Senator Obama has been so thoroughly “vetted” by the MSM, he’s had to allow a photo image of his Birth Certificate be published as proof that he was actually born within the United States. Please point me to one other politician in anyone’s memory who’s had to do the same
(note: Senator McCain was actually not born within the United States, he was born in a military hospital in the Panama Canal Zone, several years before Congress recognized it as being US territory for automatic citizenship by birth. I have to wonder about the amount of vetting done by the MSM on that.)
Considering you are an immigrant from Canada; if you’re not a naturalized American Citizen, then I suggest that you show some respect for your host nation by not spreading innuendo and gossip.
If you are a naturalized citizen, then you should have learned enough about the basis of our political system through your citizenship studies to show some respect.

bhappy, I think you were looking at the George W. Bush rap sheet there. Wiretapping Americans, invading countries, killing innocent civilians, supporting big oil at our expense, running up the deficit, lying about WMD. it goes on and on. Let’s just say it is time for a new direction in America and reelecting the same party that caused the problem is not the right answer. But you keep drinking the Kool Aid if you wish and believe the lies the media spreads about Obama.
We’ll all know November 4th.

Barack Hussein Obama “values”?
You’re kidding right, Ray Williams?
The same Barack Hussein Obama who has never hidden his contempt nor hatred for America? The same one who is married to a woman who quotes Saul “Red” Alinsky for inspiration and confirms is a childhood friend of her parents? The same Barack Hussein Obama who has never been vetted by the MSM, who have never investigated his past? The same Barack Hussein Obama who has enough dirty laundry there isn’t enough soap in the world to clean it up—Rezko, Ayres, Wright, Farrakan and Kilpatrick?
Oh, and let’s not forget his platform—undermine America and her military, capitulate to our enemies, alienate our allies, raise taxes and bring the economy to a screeching halt, and “universal health care”. As an immigrant from Canada, I can assure you “universal health care” is the worst policy choice to make. I am thankful I am in the US with a free market and freedom to choose.
Let’s not forget what a wimp and whiner he is. I don’t want someone in the White House who can’t man up and has to send female “surrogates” to fight his brawls.
Even journalists in Toronto, Vancouver and the UK are laughing at him.
Give me a break.

rafaelva is to be commended for sharing the details of how difficult caring for a child with down’s syndrome really is. Not everyone is capable of taking on such a 24/7 job. Not every family wants to. This is where choice comes in. Gov. Palin chose to have her child. Not everyone does.

I am running my finger down my throat. People who support Hillary Clinton aren’t going to support a woman with an opposite world view from Hillary.
What sickens me the worst is the way abortion was slipped into the conversation. Shame on any parent for parading their special needs child around saying, ‘Look, I didn’t abort him.“ GAG! If we take that line of logic, we could probably all parade our children around and say ‘Look, I didn’t abort herhim because ____(fill in the blank)‘

I can applaud Mrs Palin’s choice to not abort her son, who has Downs Syndrome. My grandson has Downs, he is 18 this year. So I do know a little bit surrounding the issue of having a child with Downs. Depending upon the extent, or depth of the disorder, the child is a 24/7 issue.
My grandson at 18, is retarded, assessed to be between 3 and 5 years old mentally. He does not speak, had and still has some physical ailments, is prone to ear nose and throat difficulties, and is classed as mildly autistic.
These children, and regardless of their age, they are children, must be monitored constantly. He goes to school everyday, and his being at school doesn’t end the worry. Last year, he was sexually accosted by another student. This past year, a teacher left a pudding cup out, it had another students anti-convulsent medication in it. My grandson, not passing up something good, ate it.
I have not read anything about Trigg, however, unless he is very high functioning, which most Downs children aren’t. He must be monitored constantly, good natured or not, he always needs help, love, and attention.
It cannot be put off, nor does that requirement ever stop. EVER!!
As far as the rest of Mr Poillucci’s opinion, well, how come if picking a highly qualified female for VP was an issue, why didn’t he pick Condoleeza Rice? She’s intelligent, Black, Female. and Qualified. Oh! I get it, three strikes against her, intelligent, black, and qualified.

Isn’t John McCain the guy that has supported the current sitting Republician president 95% of the time?
Is Vic saying the current Administration, which McCain has supported 95% of the time, has made a complete mess of terrorism, Iraq, gas prices, housing, unemployment and lack of new job creation?
Are we to believe that the guy that voted with Bush 95% of the time to create the mess we’re in is the same guy we should select to clean up the mess?
Is our entrenched Senator McCain so “inside Washington” he himself has to bring in a “large state” governor to give him a clear view of the crisis? Is McCain running for president or running for doorman of Sarah’s White House?
Did not America, eight years ago, select a governor from a “large state” to be our president because he was not a “Washington insider”? Isn’t this the same governor that made a complete mess of the US economy, failed to secure our borders from illegal immigrants, brought us $4/gallon gas, led us from a budget surplus to the largest deficit in American history - with McCain’s support 95% of the time?
Thanks Vic, but no thanks. I’ll take my chances with Barack Hussein Obama, the candidate with the funny name but the right values for America today.
