In last fall’s election, “I DO NOT SUPPORT any increase in the gas tax” was how Chuck Colgan “set the record straight” during his re-election campaign for the Virginia Senate seat that represents most
of Prince William County.
Given his vehemence, we citizens ought to expect him not to vote for a gas tax increase. Well, let’s check in. (You know what I’m about to say, don’t you?) On June 25, Senator Colgan made a liar of
himself by voting to pass Senate Bill 6009 that would raise the Virginia gas tax by six cents per gallon.
Of course that followed his vote on Feb. 15, for Senate Bill 713 to raise the gas tax five cents per gallon. It’s a shame Senate seats have four year terms. We can’t afford Senator Colgan one more day.

Chris, my mistake. I responded too quickly and forgot that it was Chuck Colgan that convened a secret energy summit with all the Big Oil companies at the White House to devised a secret oil plan to make billions for Big Oil and Halliburton. I saw the C in the last name and thought Cheney rather than Colgan. My bad.

All politicians are liars and break promises. Nothing new here.

Other than raising taxes on the working man going against yet another promise of Colgan, what does he propose Ray? LOL Chris Cummings

Big deal already Democrats want to hike our taxes on roads to nowhere like widening PWC Parkway. I have traveled extensively on that road day or night and it is not congested. It’s not like Warner or Gilmore fixed the transportation problems facing NOVA. We should toll some more roads in NOVA as well as use some bonds. Gasoline tax? Are you guys crazy? This only affects the little guy. Don’t we pay enough on gas taxes. Plus they want to hike the sales tax. Kaine’s own party members are against him on these proposals. Kaine is no Mark Warner. Why don’t we cut spending on illegals altogether. Give them the boot by law of course. JVA their is no resting when their are illegal criminals in this country. LOL Chris Cummings

Well are we surprised that a Politician lied?? Doesn’t matter if they are Democrats or Republicans, they all lie.
We have seen in the Local Repb. Committee, all the liars that have put forth their spewe for seval years now. It never ends.
And Mr. Kopko, speaking about money, you had your nerve to spend over $25000 to renovate a place that is rented by the Committee. That money would have better spent in helping a local Repb. get elected.
How fast we criticize others before taking charge of ones self.

How did Bush cause the economic crisis Ray? Since it was individuals who got in over their heads on ARM’s and too much credit. This cycle will repeat and repeat like it does almost every decade. To blame it all one individual is like crediting Clinton with economic growth. Since we all know that when Clinton left office we were in Recession. Which didn’t end till about 2002-2003. Sure the economy had good times just like it did from at least 2003-2007 as well. We have good times and bad times its called the economic cycle. Sure beats the “Stagflation” of the late 70’s. You nailed it, willow703. This is why the Virginia GOP won’t support six cents on the gallon gas tax. So they can bash their democratic opponents over it to win elections. They’ll babble on about flip-flops and taxes while making no proposals of their own to get anything done. That’s leadership.
Meanwhile, our traffic situation gets worse and worse. Thanks Republicans. You’ve just saved me seventy-two cents every time I fill up my car. What’s that? $37 a year? Unfortunately it takes me an hour and a half to drive home from Springfield to Woodbridge. I just burned an extra two gallons of $4 gas, wasting my time in stop and go traffic.
Yeah, Chuck Colgan is really the villain here.
btw What is Chris Cummings’ problem? He’s like freaking rain man with the illegal alien stuff. People could be discussing the Kyoto treaty or the new Kanye video, and that guy would have to chime in about how much he hates day laborers.
Yeah, we get it. You can’t stand illegals. Give it a rest already.

Ray Williams,
Ray we understand you hate the Bush Administration. Ok we get it. Every single issue for you comes back to that administration. We know why you are so bitter. As you advised, you own a title company which I’m sure is doing very little business these days. Go find you some new cheese and quit putting everything back on the Bush Administration. How about concentrating on that do nothing House & Senate that the Libs control. Their approval rating is in the single digits. Senator Colgan has broken his promises on many occasions and we are calling him out on it. I guess Bush made him do it. You’re getting really silly Ray. There will never be enough roads in NOVA regardless of how much we spend. We all must commute some 20 miles to work and mass transit has not kept up with the demand. I know, it’s Bush’s fault. And good old Willow703bag. So now it’s ok to raise taxes. You have been crying for months on the counties need to rise tax’s but it’s acceptable when it’s Libs who propose them. Take the housecoat off and live in the real world you old fool.

Here’s another fool who would rather waste his money & his time sitting traffic than spend less than 20 cents a day (total after 5 years) in taxes to eliminate or at least alleviate the backup.
But, I should have expected that; he also believed the promise of a politician.

Most politicians change their positions as the world evolves around them. Perhaps Mr. Kopko is also upset Fords come in colors other than black, despite Henry Ford’s earlier boast against color. The Bush Administration has caused an economic crisis in our county and Mr. Colgan must play the hand dealt him by the current situation. Sometimes drastic measures are required when others, whose failed policies remain fixed in mud, create unexpected situations.
