Did Stewart lie to us and to the media?

Changing the immigration resolution (or “strengthening” it as Mr. Stewart calls it) contradicts the very decision the Board of County Supervisors made when it chose to alter the terms of checking immigration status.
A few weeks ago, Mr. Stewart claimed after THAT change, the BOCS decision resulted in an even stronger policy. If this is the case and the goal is to implement the policy, then there should be no reason to change it back. If this is not the case, then Mr. Stewart has lied to us and to the media.
To continue to focus on this resolution is a waste of our tax dollars and time. Additional changes put county employees and the police department at risk. There are far more pressing issues that need to be dealt with in this county.
Please let the dust settle so we can return to the usual business of solving neighborhood problems and rebuilding the sense of community we have lost.

No ESOL teachers have been laid off as of now. I guess there was a dearth of illegals taking the classes. Now grow up and answer the serious questions that have been asked. LOL. Chris Cummings

Ah, Chris ... a classic WD-40 Man non-answer. Yes, I live within the borders of PWC, and have for close to 50 years. I have lived in a number of zip codes in the PWC area, all on “this” side of the wooden bridge. I just want to know how many ESOL teachers were laid off? Is that so hard to answer? And take a shot at the trivia. I’ll give you the answers if you are interested or you can check with some oldtimers.

Chris, let’s do some PWC trivia - Manassas related as that’s the area I live in. Why is Manaport Shopping Center called Manaport? What current street was known as the GTO strip - 1/4 mile marked off and all - in the late 1960’s? Stonewall Jackson High School was built to replace another high school. Which one? What were the two anchor stores when the Manassas Mall opened? What type of restaurant operated where Casa Chimo is now? Double points if you know the name. Where was the first Western Auto located? How about the first Merchant’s Tire? How about the call letters and frequency of our AM radio station, double points if you know its first location. How far back do you want to go????

Chris, you and I are right-on together on the mortgage crisis. I’ve seen homeowners of all income levels using their homes as piggy banks, refinancing as soon as the value went up enough to cover closing costs. They live their lavish lifestyles with BMWs, vacation homes and other keep-up-with-the-Joneses spending. They can not pay for this lifestyle with their paycheck, but rely on ongoing refinancing to fund their pleasure trip. Well, the bubble burst and homeowners from all walks of life are bursting with it. I also said this before: You would be amazed by how many mid-life couples still get handouts from mom and dad to remodel their homes or buy ‘nicer’ cars.

Sorry Ray, you were answered many messages ago, as a matter of fact, i believe it was back in April. You and your alias phdee were answered then. Just because InsideNova deletes and doesn’t post posts that believe in their opinion doesn’t mean that you weren’t responded too. Like any newspaper and media outlet, they are controlled by liberal elitists. My mother can literally walk into the DMV and request her citizenship, its that simple. She doesn’t need resident papers, she has her legal alien card and Social Security number. By the way Ray do you really live in PWC? DC20 hasn’t existed for years. The foreclosure issue is a result of people misstating their incomes to get larger mortgages, and the purchasing of ARM’s. It was a housing nightmare that has been growing since the last housing decline 10 or so years ago and the one before that. Prices go up, prices go down. If these legals as you say had illegal renters then they should pay the consequences according to the law. Chris Cummings

Ray DC20 hasn’t existed for years are you sure you are from PWC? You must be as obsolete as that channel. How Bush can be rsponsible for an individual getting an ARM or overstating their income as well as illegally purchasing a mortgage or rental is beyond even my apparent scant logic, according to Ray of course. What about all the individuals undergoing foreclosure and eviction that signed these agreements under Clinton, does that make “Slick Willie” culpable as well, or for that matter the regulatory environment of the time that made this easy as well as the schemes and plans of Enron and Global Crossing, Worldcom. Ray, many individuals have come forward from Principi’s district and have stated they won’t be voting for him next time. The “Immigration Issue” will continue to be a serious problem as long as the individuals want to continue to break the law. In other words as you have said in recent comments including the most recent ones, that the Resolution has had no real effect on illegals leaving the county, even though the county has one of the best unemployment rates in the nation???? Why would an illegal leave because their is plenty of employment in PWC? Sounds kind of ludicrous and hypocritical on your part??? With forged documents, stolen identities, fraudulent lenders and mortgage companies, it is very easy for an illegal to qualify for a mortgage. If i have a legal friend who rents to illegals and then loses their home, thats called paying for the consequences of them breaking the law. I am sure their actions make the majority of legal immigrants so happy. LOL. 7% payroll tax? Illegals won’t agree to the documentation process, what makes you think that they will agree to an extra tax? We all know that Amnesty doesn’t work, for all you layman that means you pay a small back tax and then you get documented and fingerprinted and issued an ID card. My mom is smart enough not to vote, especially with the human garbage that we have had as President since the 60’s.Ray solutions for the problem were given many messages ago, just because you and a few of your cohorts on here choose to ignore the laws doesn’t mean that they aren’t working or won’t work. The real moniker for Phdeedeedee should be “I don’t know” or they are illegal and should be entitled to all the rights of a legal citizen as well as getting free benefits without paying taxes.
