Dishonest politics of John McCain

There was a time (eight years ago) when I thought John McCain would make an excellent president. Yet it appears that the pragmatic, “straight-talking” leader that once appealed to so many moderates
has gone the way of the dinosaurs. While his recent ads focusing on Obama’s “celebrity” come off as little more than inadequate whining, his message on Obama’s economic plan represents completely
dishonest fear mongering.
Obama has made it clear time and again that his tax plan does not target small businesses, middle-class or elderly Americans. His plan is specific and targeted. While McCain offers little different than
the policies that have left our economy on the brink of disaster, he seems content to scare his fellow Americans into believing that Obama’s tax plan will take money away from them, when the vast
majority will actually benefit from it. It’s not only dishonest, but clearly gives the voting public very little credit.
Here’s hoping that all eligible voters take the time and responsibility to get the real facts and make an informed decision instead of falling victim to the same old and tired dishonest politics that McCain
once claimed were beneath him.

The professor is basically correct about govt employment. Eventually, eveyone will work for a local, state, or federal govt. if possible. Look at how contractors like Halliburtion and defens contractors flock (and cheat) to get federal contractors, often to just replace federal workers. These are political and “future job” hunters. The US is or has sent most factory jobs outside the US - for cheaper labor and higher profits. Fraud is rampant by the private sector in medical care. Private industry just loves those federal programs and its moneyy. And many of these businesses file no tax forms - often the reason to go overseas. When greed in the private sector gets so great - as in the housing industry today - the govt is supposed to bail them out and keep them in business. “Too big to fail”. Proves just about everyone is working for the govt doesn’t it? Virginia for instance is socialist already.. Va.‘s economy is based solely onincomes of local, state, federal, and military employees. The rest of the state is abject poverty.

To fund programs you either raise taxes or cut costs of other programs. You want roads built and bridges repaired? Increase the gas tax or cut spending on, well, war would be a good place to start.
We need a presidential candidate that will PROMISE to cut spending FIRST as his platform. Where? How about congress’s retirement pay for life, even if only one term is served. How about cutting Christmas decorations at the White House - a few hundred thousand per year. Stop using Air Force One as your personel jet. Fire department heads that send chemical-laden trailers to hurricane victims - or hang the CEO that sold them to the government in the first place. Who was it that said “a few billion here and a few billion there and soon you’re talking real money” ....
We don’t hold our representatives responsible for waste, poor choices or simple pork. We need Ross Perot!

Your candidate BHO is widely criticize for his opponent because his tax plan is just a lie, it will affect most of us with increases, after the tax cut that we enjoy right now, will soon expire. Obama talk about to increase the level of redistribution of wealth increasing taxes, this is very dangerous , Democrats use this mechanism to gain votes. As the economist, Professor Parkinson in his so delightfully documents wrote,< the world is growing more and more inured to government employment that neither accomplishes any useful human purpose, nor is intended to. The ambitious politician naturally favors increased government employment because of its enormous possibilities for patronage, for “buying votes,” and for perpetuating a political administration through the economic dependence of constituents. Since government make-work employment is supported by taxation on the sector of the economy that produces useful goods and services, it may be classified purely and simply as redistribution according to need.> Welfare is another tool to buy votes , just look around citizens beneficiary for welfare in large vote democrat.

It is interesting that while this letter writes about the dishonest tactics of McCain, that most of the commenters to the letter avoid Mccain (either to praise or criticize) and attempt to shift to Obama and attack him. Obviously thee attackers are staunch and ignorant republicans. And it is apparent they have nothing positive or good to say about him. Poor ignorant souls. Replies show they can’t objectively discuss anything, or stick with the issue, i.e. Mccain’s policies.

Good effort. But the fact is the BHO’s economic forecast certainly will call for increased taxes on the middle class and higher prices at the pumps.
When he socializes health care, how will he come close to paying for it without taxing the middle class? Taxing the wealthiest Americans more won’t even put us in the ballpark of paying for socialized medicine.
And when he taxes the windfall profits of oil companies, does he think they’ll simply sit on their hands and accept less profit? Not exactly. They’ll respond with a corresponding increase the price of gas, passing on the cost of BHO’s tax to the consumer.
So by highlighting these simple truths, McCain is engaging in “dishonest politics”? Hard to believe.

Who is being dishonest? Obama claims that McCain would provide tax cuts to “big” oil without providing the entire McCain tax plan.
There is no question that if Obama gets elected, he and his fellow Dems in Congress will raise taxes on everyone. They will increase the Capital gains tax, the Death tax, etc.

Sen. Obama’s plan is “specific and targeted”. Correct. It is targeted at those who make more money than the rest of us; i.e., it is discriminatory. It is the class warfare of socialism, not the equal treatment, under the law, of democracy.
Speaking of equal treatment under the law, Sen. Obama favors taking away a union members right to a secret ballot in union elections. He wants the union to be able to know how each member votes and to know how each employee in a company votes in a union organization campaign. This is an open invitation to voter intimidation. If open ballot voting is good enough for unions, it is good enough for all elections. I want to see who gets Rick Smith’s vote for each elected office.
I’ve been voting for 50 years & I’ve yet to see a pragmatic, straight-talking, moderate, candidate.

Stop whining and do your job. Obama use the race card along with Howard Dean the head of the DNC an also came up with the issue of McCain age, if you want to be in the game you must be willing to take punches and not be a girl.
