Do what you can to stop global warming

Global warming is in the news now, though the reports only pay cursory attention to the issue, rarely if ever going deeper than the headlines. Our indifference to the issue has resulted in our forests, prairies, tundras, lakes, rivers, and oceans, along with all the wildlife that inhabit them, being threatened or destroyed.  Forests and wetlands all over the world are being destroyed for bigger and bigger cities, highways and dams, mining, logging, or drilling to feed the needs and greed of humanity.

Bees are dying, the birds are disappearing from our skies or they no longer know how to migrate, the ocean’s fish are being depleted, our water is full of chemicals and more and more animals are becoming extinct every day.

Global warming directly affects the ocean currents and weather patterns, their frequency and severity, flora and fauna behavior and basically the survivability for all life on the planet.

If you’ve been paying attention, you can’t deny polar ice is melting, storms are bigger and coming out of season, levies are breaking, lives are being lost and yet some people are still doubtful about whether these are the results of global warming. Global warming is simply the ultimate manifestation of our rape and destruction of the environment.

Next time you are sitting in traffic, contributing your share to the world’s pollution, try to imagine how big the problem really is. Americans need to take a serious look at themselves and decide if we want to help save the earth for our great grandchildren. Or is all that matters our selfish needs? What we are witnessing now is nothing compared to what is coming if we don’t take immediate action.

Take the first steps and turn off the computer and lights when they’re not being used. Screw in a few more florescent bulbs, make purchases based on what is right for the environment, work closer to home and take it from there. We especially need action from our elected officials. Please make them aware of your concerns about the environment and global warming… today.

jVA is absolutely right. Whether or not global warming is occurring, would it really hurt to try to save a little energy and dump a little less smog into the air we breathe? Besides, if we burn a little less gasoline its price increase might just decelerate.

Jim, I hope you’re right.  (And I hope you’re not getting the “latest scientific reports from Drudge.)

It seems to me though that the things people suggest doing to reduce one’s impact on the environment are all good ideas towards at least conserving energy and cutting down on pollution.

If global warming turns out to be a total overreaction by an overwhelming majority of scientists, I’ll certainly be the first to admit it and be happy it was a false alarm.  Either way, its not going to hurt anybody to do their part cleaning up the environment.

Global warming or “algoremania” man-made global warming is impossible to stop, the same way you can not stop a tornado or stop the rain.

News flash global warming is on the decline the temperatures are on the decline, the latest reports show a cooling period ahead. Scientist have been predicting this for some time, but the news media have been ignoring that. The solar activity that caused the increase in temperatures has decreased thus the decrease in the earth’s temperatures. There is no need for the government to do anything the problem is resolving itself.
