Don’t ignore the American majority

I find it frightening when I hear the person wanting to lead our country say Americans should learn to speak Spanish. Why does Barack Obama ignore the majority of Americans who think English should
be the official language in America? How could anyone vote for Barack Obama?

Just like one poster wrote: “It wasn’t an order but a suggestion”. Senator Obama is not mandating anybody to learn Spanish, it’s only a suggestion that should be considered. I don’t understand why conservatives want to make English the official language when English has been and it will be the “official language of this country”. I don’t know anybody that tells me otherwise. all I can think about is that coservatives want to make every American believe that we are losing our language, culture and our traditions to Hispanics, that’s absurd. there is absolutely nothing wrong learning Spanish or any other language, it’s fun and more open-minded to other cultures. conservatives: “English is already our official language”

“I know Senator Obama would not want this kind of endorsement, but that was the final straw for me on why I will not be voting for him. “

I know how you feel.

I was thinking about voting for McCain, but then I found out how he dumped his crippled first wife to run off with a hot young millionaire and forgot how many houses he owns.  I had a big problem with that.

Then I found of the Stormfront White Supremacists have endorsed McCain.  That was it.  No way could I possibly vote for this guy.

I mean, how does McCain’s mother feel knowing she raised a son who has been endorsed by white supremacists?  Isn’t he also part-crazy?  I think I read that somewhere.

I have to admit.  The Republican style of political debate might be insanely stupid, but it is a lot of fun.

I can’t see where suggesting that people in the United States should learn Spanish, in any way ignores the majority.  With the exception of Brazil, and Canada, the rest of the Americas speak Spanish.  It wasn’t an order, it was a suggestion.  We don’t have a National Language, the Founding Fathers, in their infinate wisdom didn’t declare English the national language.

Not learn another language, especially Spanish?  Why not? It must be a post from one of the anti-immigrant racist crowd here in PWC.  It’s Southern education features - ignorance, and Va. is among the leaders of it.  With a global economy, someone is going to have to do the talking.  Guess we’ll just leave it to the rest of the world, as we fade into oblivion and ignorance here in the US.

do right, the terrorists got you on that one! They really want McCain to win, so they send out the wire they are pulling for Obama. Do you think they’re that dumb? They know whatever they say, lapel pin wearers will do the opposite.
The terrorists benefit with McCain because the policies of George W. Bush have been their best recruiting tool. Knowing McCain won’t change a thing gives them four more years to strengthen their organization and recruit more members. They got you to take the bait - hook, line and sinker. Too funny - if it wasn’t so sad for America.

Mr. Neal you are correct. A presidential candidate should not be asking Americans to learn Spanish.  It is an insult to all other languages represented in the United States as well. Another example of how Barack Obama alienates people.  If he truly wanted to bring all Americans together, he would have stated upfront that English is the official language of the United States of America.  He could also encourage Americans to learn “other"languages to enrich their lives.

I also have national security concerns when a terrorist organization announces that they favor Barack Obama our president.  I know Senator Obama would not want this kind of endorsement, but that was the final straw for me on why I will not be voting for him.

No doubt, Cletis!  Education is terrifying.  We don’t want our kids getting all educated and learning to speak foreign languages.  Especially not Spanish.

Next thing you know this commie Obama will suggest kids learn algebra.  And everybody knows algebra was invented by muslims!

We will not tolerate book learning here in Gainesville.  Now, pass me the remote so I can get back to watching America’s Funniest Fart Jokes.

It is easy to vote for Obama. Look at the choices on the ballot, see “John McSame” listed as the other candidate. Know this means 4 more years of economic depression growing debt and failed foreign policy and pull the level for Barack. A no-brainer really.

Apparently it does not occur to Mr. Neal that having an official language and learning other languages need not be mutually exclusive. Spanish is a useful skill. By Mr. Neal’s logic a politician who encourages Americans to learn to swim is against those who would like to walk.
