Don’t support Xenophobic view

In letter printed on Oct. 20, Peter del Cano states that he fears “…we have a wolf in sheep’s clothing running for president.” He is writing in reference to a statement Barack Obama made in Powder
Springs, Georgia on July 8, where Obama stated, “You should be thinking about, how can your child become bilingual? We should have every child speaking more than one language.”
Del Cano believes he is dropping a zinger when he states, “I wonder if they should also learn the Koran?” Aside from the fact that this statement is obviously meant to question Obama’s faith, patriotism
and loyalty, del Cano implies we are to connect the dots ourselves. In his view, our children learning Spanish makes us sympathetic to illegal immigration, which in turn assumes sympathy for terrorists.
And reading the Koran makes us sympathetic to Muslims, which again assumes support for terrorists. Very faulty logic on del Cano’s part.
It is my hope that this xenophobic world view is not shared with our children, but they will learn to embrace and celebrate other cultures, languages and even faiths. Bull Run Unitarian Universalists, of
which I am a member, will be taking our senior and junior youth to visit the Dar al-Noor Mosque this Sunday. This is one of many visits this year scheduled to various houses of faith across the county.
Will our children be learning about the Koran, the Tanakh, the Bible and other great religious writings? You betcha!

Why did Gore shun Clinton in 2000? Why did Kerry shun Gore in 2004? Why is Obama not having Gore and Kerry play a larger role this year?
The simple fact is that two term Presidents are not very popular, the Country grows tired of them and yes, Bush is unpopular, but we see it on both sides. Besides, McCain does in fact have views on many issues that are different from Bush.
This phony attempt to tie McCain to Bush by saying he voted with Bush 90% of the time sounds nice for the Dems, but if you look at the many bills that have been passed over the last 8 years, you will find many members of Congress on both sides who have voted with Bush.

phdee, here’s the answer to the question pwanon won’t answer:
From the WP (again): “McCain is weighed down by President Bush’s unpopularity. The president’s approval rating is below 30 percent and much below that in many of the battleground states. That means McCain has to win over lots of voters who are unhappy with the performance of a Republican president.“
While pwanon seems to be having a problems making Bill Ayers “stick” to Barack Obama, we’ve had no problem making George W. Bush “stick” to John McCain.
I can’t wait to hear the Fat Lady sing in 11 more days - when the McCain-Palin opera is over.

pwanon. If Obama wins, you could say it was an overthrow of a fascist Bush-Cheney-McCain-Palin govt for a democratic one, or even the poor or nearly poor vs. the wealthy, irrespective of type of govt. You or anyone else did not answer my question why everyone, including Repubs, are fleeing Bush.

PHD,
Funny how Gore distanced himself from Clinton. How Hillary was out of favor. Lets talk about who really is stupid….
Obama thinks we have 57 States. Joe B can’t count. He thinks FDR was President in 1929. Obama thinks 95% of Americans pay Federal income taxes. Joe Biden thinks he is running for President since he has said the “Biden Administration”.....a number of times while on the stump.
I love how people are defending Castro and comparing him to Obama. You betcha

“Maybe he’s a dictator”
Welcome to the understatement of the year. Yes…the “have nots” have done so well under Castro, that they’re willing to float on the detached hood of a car to come to the United States.
And when BHO institutes his economic reforms, we’ll no longer be a nation of “haves” and “have nots”
We’ll just all be “have nots”.
Know why? Because as Cuba, North Korea, and the Soviet Union have shown, communistic economic policies and the “spreading around” of wealth are absolutely, time-proven economy killers.
Not to mention completely unfair…and arbitrary…and antithetical to the founding principles of this country.
Now that’s “change” we can get poor with.

Why pwanon. You must not remember. The US welcomed Castro. He came here, we had parades, a warm welcome. Long live the revolution. Then when Castro said he was communist, the US turned against him. The US then had its failedmCuban invasion. Castro is still around, despite US embargoes. Maybe he’s a dictator. The point is Batista was too. It was a revolution of the have nots vs. the haves. Sort of like in the US where under bush and McCain, the big oil and Wall Street CEO get the tax breaksa, etc., and the poor and middle class get nothing or very little. Why are the Repubs fleeing Bush? Why is msain street agains the bailout? Surely you can figure it out. CHANGE!!!

“Yes, Cuba got change”
So…you’re comparing a potential BHO victory to the Communist overthrow of the Cuban government?
Thank you, phdee…for unwittingly stating exactly the case that anyone with a brain has been been trying to make.
What Republicans need is more Democrats like you, to do our talking for us.
Well done. Not that you meant to…but well done anyways.

Yes, Cuba got change. The peasants had had enough of US backed dictators, so they overthrewmthe govt and all the elitists fled. It’s like now in the US: we have a fascist regime in Bush; he’ll be gone in a little, and so will the fascist Repubs. Consider it an overthrow. It is hilarious how Repubs are trying to distance themselves from Bush. Maybe someone can think of some clever bumper stickers.
Irishlad and anonmom: Wasn’tg that hilarious when Palin gave her version ofmthe duties of VP. Why we must have another Constitutiom. She is truly ignorant - a typical Republican.
Last night I saw my lovely Rose,
All painted up (lipstick on a pig) in Macy’s clothes.
Her eyes had lost their spark,
The years had left their mark.
She’s just a painted, tainted Rose.
Party life was what she chose
Thanks Al Martino.

Is Joe Biden an complete muppet? You betcha…
So let’s see…in July of 2007, Joe Biden said BHO wasn’t qualified to be the President. In 2008, after being named the nominee, he changed his mind…apparently.
He said that FDR led us through the Stock Market Crash of 1929 by going on TV and explaining the crisis. Except he wasn’t President during the Crash, and there was no TV.
Joey Botox assialed Dick Cheney by saying that Article I talks about the duties of the VP, and that aside from breaking a tie, he has no day to day responsibilities over the Senate. Except its actually Article II, and it states that the VP is the President of the Senate ALL THE TIME…not just when there’s a tie.
The foreign policy expert known as Joey Hair Plugs also said we removed Hezbollah from Lebanon. Um, really? They’re not there now? When did we kick them out?
Or…how about the fact that “Barack says its all about three letters…J-O-B-S.“ I didn’t major in math…but I think that’s four.
So the lesson here is three fold:
1. If Sarah Palin even made a fraction of the gaffes that Joey Botox has made, she’d be skewered worse than she already is.
2. Joe Biden knows nothing about the duties of the VP (and why would he…he’s only running for it), or the Consitution, or foreign policy.
3. Joe Biden is an idiot…and Democrats should restrain their eggheaded urges to assail Palin before considering the absolute clown that supposed to be hiding the enormous deficiencies in BHO’s resume.
