One thing that sets this nation apart from most other nations of the world is our public education system. Most successful citizens of this country are products of the public school system.
Education fosters success, tolerance, enlightenment and peace. I challenge anyone to look at the education policy of each candidate for president as found on their official Web sites and decide who has
the better plan. I believe you will conclude that Sen. Barack Obama has the comprehensive plan our public school systems need and Sen. John McCain’s is the same old, ineffective rhetoric we invariably
hear from the radical, far-right faction of the Republican Party. Siphoning off funding from public schools, in any form, instead of rolling up our sleeves and doing the necessary work of improving failing
public school divisions, will be an act of elitism this nation will pay dearly for in decades to come.

It is interesting to note Republicans want to take money away from public school systems by providing a tax break for the rich who can afford to send their children to private schools.
Each tax dollar shifted to private schools lowers the quality of education for our children and prevents us from attracting the best qualified teachers for our kids.
While we’re busy handing out tax cuts for the ultra rich, how about looking at a program to provide income tax cuts for teachers working in the public school system?
