Joe Angsten should not be lecturing Democrats about “competence” in government and his resistance to Obama’s call for “change.”
While there are many measures of competence in government, the bottom line is critical to this analysis. When the Democrats left office in 2001, the great issue of the day was how to spend the budget
surplus. According to federal budget reports, the surplus back then was $46 billion.
Today, we have a $163 billion deficit. Similarly, back in 2000, the national debt stood at $5.9 trillion. Today, it is $9.2 trillion — a massive 56 percent increase. And the great issue today is far from fighting
about how to spend our surpluses! Yes, it is time for a change.

Too true Kevin.
This is what I know. If we elect Barrack Obama, there is a chance we might be disappointed. If we elect John McCain though, we are choosing to stay on the exact path we’ve been on since 2000. So we already know we’ll definitely be disappointed.
I’ll take a chance on the new direction.

It is time to stop talking about “change” & start talking about what, why, when, & how.
What: Armed forces; each branch has its own commandos. The Navy, which includes the Marines, has two, the Marines, themselves are an elite force. Why: My question, exactly.
When: Now. How: Eliminate all but the Seals - make them Marines - and the Army’s Special Forces.
What: Each has a separate communications
system resulting in frequent inability to communicate on the battlefield.
What: “Don’t ask, don’t tell.” When push comes to shove, the only thing that matters is ability to do the job. If you can’t get along with others, you are a liability on the battlefield.
What: The Bureau of Indian Affairs. Why:
They have done nothing but screw things up. They should be told to go waste someone else’s money.
What: Political Hacks filling important positions. Heck-of-a-job Brownies & the like are wasting billions our tax dollars. How: Written job qualifications
for everyone below the Vice President.
When: Before the next President takes office.
Neither candidate has proposed solutions
to these problems.
