Everyone wants to be in control

The presidential election is nearing. Not only do I read and observe everyone being divided on very important issues facing our country, but I pay close attention to individuals and groups of individuals
trying to control the way other people think.
It’s amazing how many folks believe that if you do not agree with them on an issue, you’re either naive, simple minded or just plain stupid. Displaying a “it’s their way or the highway” kind of attitude
doesn’t get matters solved.
I personally couldn’t imagine if every single soul on this planet thought the same way. God Bless America for being a diverse, free society that welcomes ALL visitors and assist in granting citizenship to
those who wish citizenship. Talk about CHANGE.
What type of change are we all wanting to take place in America? Is it right for America to cater to one group of citizens? Should America change her way of life or let her English language become
second place?
Why is it that when an American has a dear desire to defend and protect their country, they are considered extremists or anti something?
America is America because she shared her land with everyone; to my knowledge, no other country, that I’m familiar with on this earth is as charitable and open as America.
Although the federal government had some good intentions, they should have foreseen in the ‘70s that some of their programs alarmed disaster. It’s a shame how many folks depend on federally
controlled systems that waste most of their lives. CHANGE we say.
We know, for one, we have to deal with the problems we already have and not let them go further. This bail out money should go to the people who lost and are losing their homes — especially to our
veterans facing hard times, to assist with unemployment and then give the left overs to some of the pathetic financial institutions.
People, on Nov. 4, vote with logic for the team that will address the major problems facing our nation and who will be fair and balanced. Don‘t vote based on race, gender, religion or political affiliation. I
trust we will come together as a nation and do what’s right.
May God always bless America!

The Dems do not care about Americans or their jobs. Tax hikes, amnesty for illegals, unions, etc are not good for Americans or jobs.

Perhaps the Dems knew we could keep jobs in America and American businesses working with affordable labor and not have to buy our food from overseas.
I wonder what that meat packaging firm down south is going to do now that they were raided? Perhaps shut down and move their processing out of the country ...
For every ying there is a yang. Democrats need full control to avoid the veto pen wielded by the president.

I’ll agree the two choices we have are not the best. However, given that Obama has no experence, no experence in working with the other side, and has set a socialist agenda. The fact the Dems in 2006 said they were going to clean up the Swamp called Congress, and put the Nation first, have failed on both accounts, my conservative views say it is better to have McCain then Obama in the White House. At worst, we will have the WH run by the GOP, and Congress run by the Dems. With Obama as President, the Dems will be in control of both, and that is not good.
BTW, I do agree with you on buying American made products and keeping jobs here. Things have gone wrong when even basic food products are not made here anymore.
Recall, the GOP supported the American worker when they rejected amnesity for illegals, while the Dems voted in favor of it.

IL, I think we as a nation would all agree neither McCain nor Obama are the BEST candidates for the job, but are the two we have to pick from this year.
My support is for the Democratic Party and simply because the Republican Party has failed these past eight years. Giving them four more years is like letting a three-strick criminal out of jail and telling him to go forth and “behave”.
Like a baseball manager or football coach, sometimes you have to change the head so the body can shake off all the bad vibes and come to work the next day with a clear mind and fresh attitude.

IRF,
What change will Obama bring? If Obama was all about change, he had the chance to change Chicago Politics, yet he embraced the same corrupt style.
Obama can say change all he wants, but in the end, he is a tax and spend liberal who wants a weak military, large Government programs and a weak America. We have seen this before, think Carter and Clinton.
Have you heard Obama speak without a TelePrompter? He does not sound so smart without having words fed to him.
Bigotry has nothing to do with it, I simply do not like liberals.
If Barr wanted to be taken seriously, he should have entered the race long before he did. Now, it just appears he wants to have his name in the media. For the record, I have voted 3rd party the last two elections.

Irishlad and others, if you don’t like the policies Obama has suggested - and we know the McCain policies are more of the same - simply vote for me!
I will promise you commonsense ways to cut government spending, cut government debt, protect American jobs, encourage Buy American products, do something about taxing the illegal immigrants here and promote American products now made in China to be made in Mexico so Mexicans do not need to cross our borders to gain employment.
I will bring Obama in as Sec of Energy to establish alternate energy programs and reduce our need for oil - foreign or domestic.
During my term I will eliminate Republican and Democrat from our speech and we will learn to speak AMERICA FIRST. Good ideas are good ideas regardless of which side of the floor they come from.
We will take care of our children in terms of education, health and making sure they have a good breakfast in the morning.
Sarah Palin will be offered the role as our national weather girl, President Bush can read stories to first grade children and John McCain - well John is a good man and I’ll find something he can do for us.
We will also protect our environment and protect our national resources.
We will not go to war unless war is necessary - and then heaven help our enemy because we’re going in to win and then get out. Mission Accomplished.
All politicans have good points and bad points. With the lone exception of Mark Warner, there is not a perfect candidate ready to take on the challenges facing America. I do not think of this election as electing Obama president, but as a change of mindset and direction by giving the Democratic Party a chance to see if they can do better than the misery of the past eight years.
I feel Republicans agree with me, because I don’t see ANYONE supporting Bush and stating “you’ve done a heckofa job Bushie”. No, Republicans want change also, just not as much change as the Democrats do.

Bottom line, McCain=more of the same; Sen. Obama (D) and Bob Barrr (Librtarian) represent change. Barack Obama represents change, new ideas, intelligence (for a change), as well a charisma. The choice is clear-don’t let your bigotry coud your decision. Alternatly, if you do not care for Obama, vote for Bob Barr, the Libertarian candidate for Pres. He is a true conservative, unlike the Republican candidate.
Pres. Bush, Sen. McShame, and the rubber stamp Republicans had a long time to truly bring change to Washington, but instead they let special interests; including big corps, religious-right, the subversive gun lobby, and DoD contractors dictate policy. Truly unpatriotic!
This transcends political affiliation. Social issues aside—which have no place in politics to begin with as we are a SECULAR nation; especially if there are religious implications, no religion shall contrevene the constitution—it is un-American to force one’s religious beliefs on others!
We need to look to the future—another four years with a Republican in the White House is an affront to our great nation and to my fellow service members who protect her! !
If anything, conservatives should vote for Bob Barr. He stands for the core what conservative principals that 30% or so of Americans believe in! McCain is not a true conservative, if anything he is a liberal on many issues, conservatives who support him and ultimately vote for him are hypocrites!
Fellow citizens, please do your country proud and either vote for Bob Barr, Libertarian (former Republican Congressman from GA—who led the impeachment drive against Pres. Clinton!) or Barack Obama. They are the only two who stand for change!

Boy the Dems really should hold off a bit. They are making plans now for when Obama wins. Included in the article is the fact Obama wants to raise money by putting an “windfall profit” tax on gas companies. Hmm, can anyone define what a windfall profit is?
Given that Oil companies are in the middle of the pack when it comes to earning rates, I wonder why they are being singled out by the Dems? Can anyone honestly say they would accept someone telling them there is a limit of how much money you are allowed to make no matter what you skills or experence or needs or wants are?
And exactly who do the Dems think will pay the socialist tax? We of course will, but the Dems are either too stupid to realize that, or simply do not care. Given that Obama said the only bad thing about $4.00 a gallon gas is that we got there too soon, maybe the Dems really do not care about us.
Talk about class warfare.
Of course any company or industry that is liked by the Dems will not be the focus of earnings.

Ray,
I agree we cannot keep spending money as if it is never going to run out. However, tax cuts are a good thing. Remember it is our money not the Governments money.
Obama wants to spend and spend and spend too, and says he will cut taxes for 95% of Americans. Well, first off, 95% of Americans do not pay taxes. Two, it seems he is falling in the same trap you claim we have been in the last eight years.
There were plenty of Dems who voted for the War and plenty of sound bites from Dems that backed up what our intel said.

Question,
So, the Dems have not had a say in the last eight years? Sure, they talk a big game, but in the end, they voted to spend as much money if not more than the Repubs. The Dems said in 2004 nothing was wrong with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, Four years later they now want to blame others.
The Dems wanted to clean up Washington, nobody can say with a stright face they have even come close to that.
New Orleans was the problem of local Dem leadership. Notice the same issues did not happen in Miss, Texas etc. Just in New Orleans. Where, by the way, the Dems just had to settle a law suit because they stole guns from Citizens.
Obama is clueless and is not exactly what we need.
