Everyone wants to be in control

The presidential election is nearing. Not only do I read and observe everyone being divided on very important issues facing our country, but I pay close attention to individuals and groups of individuals
trying to control the way other people think.

It’s amazing how many folks believe that if you do not agree with them on an issue, you’re either naive, simple minded or just plain stupid. Displaying a “it’s their way or the highway” kind of attitude
doesn’t get matters solved.

I personally couldn’t imagine if every single soul on this planet thought the same way. God Bless America for being a diverse, free society that welcomes ALL visitors and assist in granting citizenship to
those who wish citizenship. Talk about CHANGE.

What type of change are we all wanting to take place in America? Is it right for America to cater to one group of citizens? Should America change her way of life or let her English language become
second place?

Why is it that when an American has a dear desire to defend and protect their country, they are considered extremists or anti something?

America is America because she shared her land with everyone; to my knowledge, no other country, that I’m familiar with on this earth is as charitable and open as America.

Although the federal government had some good intentions, they should have foreseen in the ‘70s that some of their programs alarmed disaster. It’s a shame how many folks depend on federally
controlled systems that waste most of their lives. CHANGE we say.

We know, for one, we have to deal with the problems we already have and not let them go further. This bail out money should go to the people who lost and are losing their homes — especially to our
veterans facing hard times, to assist with unemployment and then give the left overs to some of the pathetic financial institutions.

People, on Nov. 4, vote with logic for the team that will address the major problems facing our nation and who will be fair and balanced. Don‘t vote based on race, gender, religion or political affiliation. I
trust we will come together as a nation and do what’s right.

May God always bless America!

raywilliams, before you pontificate about how you are worse off now than 8 years ago, take a look around your house. How many iPods? How many big-screen TV’s? FIOS? Cellphones? I could go on and on.
If people feel “worse off” now, it’s because of their own greed and need for more and more material goods, bigger houses that they can’t afford, cars that suck up gasoline—and on and on.

We are still far better off than many other people in the world, and I will not accept that America has to be “fundamentally changed,“ as Obama promises. The Democrats do a great job of trying to make us feel anxious dissatisfied with our lives and with our nation. We will recover from this conveniently-timed economic “crisis,“ whose “solution” will continue to line the pocket of self-interested thieves in government and in the private sector. Remember that your man Obama supported this pork-laden “solution.“

Quit whining, log off your high-speed internet connection, and look around you. There’s a lot of good out there, too, despite the Democratic fear-mongering.

Ms. Andrews’ letter underscores a point I try to make from time to time.

With this election, there is only one simple question. “Are we better off today than we were eight years ago?“

Has your home value increased or tanked? How is your retirement fund doing? Can you even see retirement on the horizon now or have you added 10 years to your working career? Is our country in a stronger financial position or is our great debt to China an albatross around our neck?  Is your paycheck keeping up with rising costs of goods? Do you even still have a job or are you one of the millions that sit unemployed while jobs are shipped overseas?

And this is not all about you and me. How is your neighbor doing? Are they suffering while we hang on? Is that the America we know and love?

Most of America would answer the question “NO, I am not better off than I was eight years ago.“  So question two becomes “Do we reward the party that has failed us by giving them four more years of failed policies?“

For me, the answer to that question is also a NO.  We have had Republican leadership 20 of the past 28 years. The only bright spot was the eight years under Democratic leadership. I am going to vote for the Democratic Party on November 4th to restore America to her greatness.
