Expanding the debate about illegal immigration

Our supervisors and county government are taking positive steps to ensure that Prince William County is a hate free zone.

Exposing hate expands the debate about illegal immigration and the serious problems that racism pose for our community.

Anyone interested in learning more about extremist nativist groups and the people that lead them can do so by visiting the following Web site.

http://www.splcenter.org/intel/intelreport/article.jsp?aid=885.

Greg Letiecq, president of Help Save Manassas, is one of the 20 people listed on the site.

I want to thank Mr. Molleur for quoting my thank you letter to everyone in our community that took a stand against this kind of hate, and I respectfully disagree with his assessment that Mr. Letiecq has
saved the county money.

As I have said before, Mr Letiecq and his extremist, nativist organization have significantly harmed our real estate and business communities relative to surrounding jurisdictions.

Sadly, the long grass and broken windows have been caused by the exodus of many businesses and homeowners, which costs the county much more in lost tax revenue than money saved because we
now have fewer immigrant children in our schools.

Anyone can try to take credit for reducing crime in our community but crime has been on the decline for 10 years because of our excellent Prince William County Police and Human Services departments, not because of Mr. Letiecq. Interested readers can find out more about crime in Prince William County by visiting the following Web site.

http://www.pwcgov.org/docLibrary/PDF/007665.pdf.

Mr. Molleur also chooses to make no mention of the murder of immigrant Serafin Negrete, who was killed when two natives went out one night last year to “get a Mexican.”

He is survived by a young wife and two young daughters.

Mr. Letiecq recently made veiled threats of vigilantism when he addressed the Board of County Supervisors.

Sanctuaries are safe places where anyone can go when they are threatened.

One of the main reasons Fairfax County has only half the number of foreclosures when compared to Prince William, even though they are twice our size, is because Fairfax and Arlington are taking
positive steps to welcome immigrants into their communities.

Gregg, What hate are you speaking about. What racism? There are invaders in our country. What other laws do you choose not to abide by? If I break into your house and live in your basement I suppose that’s ok with you but if you try to break into my house all you will see is the flash before the bullet puts your lights out forever. That’s not hate, that’s racism, that’s protecting my property from someone that breaks the law. The country belongs to the American Citizens and needs to be protected as if it were our home because when you get right down to it that’s what it is.

Mike G. What bus did you fall off. Millions of illegals are now the invisible backbone of our economic system? Where the heck did you dream that up. As for the illegals that do all my work you’re so full of excrement I’d like to plant you next to my roses. I have not and will not hire an illegal. If someone or some business hires an illegal they need to be fined and or jailed. We all know that Gregg is a bleeding heart liberal and wants nothing but to give everything to the non deserving. Here again I make the offer. Give all your belongings and savings to whomever you want. If you expect me to ever give up my earnings for the support of illegals you can forget it. The only support the illegal will get from me is a cheer as the bus their deported on is crossing into the next county.

In response to MikeG, I’ll toss my Documented Illegal Immigrant plan out here once more. MikeG nails the problem and touches on the solution. One, until the border is secure, anything else we do is like sticking a finger in a leaking dike. Two, we’re not going to deport 12-20 million illegals all at once. Three, the ‘hate’ issue is getting a little tired. My plan, again, recommends issuing a Documented Illegal Immigrant card so THOSE WILLING to start the legal progress can take a first step. This Card would come with security checks, allow for legal drivers license and the deduction of PAYROLL TAXES, without our available social benefits. This provides us some breathing room until the Feds get their act together. I also make the allowance for an additional payroll withholding ‘illegal immigrant tax’ to further offset the costs of social burdens. This would be a time-restricted card, say two years, which is time for them to become legal or pack for home. If you are illegal, and caught without this card, then off to the poky and a plane ticket awaits. No where is intended to be amnesty, just to provide breathing room for the system.
If you don’t like this idea, okay. Then come up with something else that CAN be implemented with current funding and is more than the same old Chris Cummings talk of “buy all 12-20 million illegals a first class plane ticket home and place no-trespassing signs on the border as our border security” plan. If you have an idea for problem solving, then it must include funding as well. No funding, no plan, and please, reduce the mud slinging.

MikeG,

So just what is you solution?  Deport 12 million people who are the invisible backbone of our nation’s economic system?  “We,“ meaning American citizens, are breaking laws every day by hiring our Hispanic neighbors to work for us.

See the recent raid in an Iowa meat packing plant -  ICE raided the plant and arrested nearly 400 people as undocumented workers.  The plant owners, who had high-level conections with the Republican Party, have not been charged with any crimes and in fact had the plant back in operation within a few days.  Hiring more undocumented workers, of course, which the ICE has turned a blind eye to.

So yes, let’s take the first step - by us, not them.  No more free passes for American Citizens hiring undocumented workers.

You’all know who you are.

Let’s see what we have here.  We’ve got Nativist hatemongers; we’ve got Resolutionist hatemongers; we’ve got Rule of Law hatemongers; we’ve got America for Americans and their invited guests hatemongers; we’ve got People Against Flagrant Disregard of County and City Ordinances (the wall) hatemongers; we’ve got Regular People Just Trying to Hold on to their homes in the Current Mortgage Crisis hatemongers; we’ve got folks just fed up with the decline in neighborhood standards of cleanliness, health, and safety because of a Flagrant Disregard for County and City Ordinances (see previous hatemonger group) hatemongers; we’ve got people who object to being labeled as a hatemonger just because they are concerned about the decline in standards of living, public health, safety, that they believe is—at least in part—being caused by an influx of illegal immigrants hatemongers; we’ve got hatemonger hatemongers who just hate because it’s what they want to do.  That latter group I made up, just for fun.

Every time apologists, historical revisionists, excusists, or whatever other -ists pop up out there during this debate; every time these people cry that there is no way out of this situation but to merely EXCUSE and give a FREE PASS to—not twelve million—closer to 20 million ILLEGAL aliens, it makes me sick to my stomach.  The “Reagan” solution; that worked out great, didn’t it?  For the illegal aliens at that time, and certainly for the 20 million who have flooded into our country since, you betcha!

There is no argument you or any of your friends can make, Reynolds, that will convince the majority of people in this country, and indeed in this state, that the resolution is not right; that it is not working; and that it deserves emulation in other regions and locales throughout this country.  If the federal government cannot do what it is supposed to do to control our borders, then it is up to the states to do what they can to protect the citizens of their state,  Nothing could be simpler.

Your arguments trying to lay the blame for the foreclosure rate and all the overgrown lawns at the feet of (see paragraph one; you choose which group of hatemongers you want to blame) is nothing short of spurious, Reynolds.  Was it the (enter hatemonger group)‘s decision to give sub-prime mortgages based on 1) lack of documentation; 2) insufficient income; 3) insufficient residency requirements; 4) insufficient assets; and so forth?  Is it the (you choose)‘s fault that people who live in non-compliance of the law must feel the need to hide in plain sight, knowing they must not get caught because the ICE folks are watching?

Sure, let’s try to find a solution to this problem that perhaps—perhaps!—leads to legal status and citizenship for these people.  But the first step must be taken by them, not us.  Stop the flow of these illegal aliens across our borders – both North and South.  Then let’s talk.  We didn’t break any laws in their coming here; we didn’t burden our government and schools, and social and medical systems by their coming here.  To say that we—the majority of this state, just regular folks, not hatemongers, not KKK members, not even members of HSM—are bad because we want a sense that our laws, our towns, and our neighborhoods are not going to be ravaged by the problem of illegal immigration, is ridiculous.  As one poster has already noted, such labeling is consistent with liberalism in its modern day form, and acts merely to strengthen the resolve of those who believe that this country owes illegal immigrants nothing!  No free pass; no free lunch; no more “Reagan” solutions!

And Phdee, just so you don’t think I’ve forgotten about you….you’re as irrelevant as ever, I see.

cobra, I don’t have a crystal ball like you to see far, far into the future so I have to use my local newspaper to get the election results. As you claim to live (in various neighborhoods) in the City of Manassas, I’m sure you are familiar with the results of the Manassas City Republican caucus held in February. This caucus, open to all voters registered to vote in the City, turned thumbs-down to the hand-picked HSM candidates David Core and Maureen Wood. While I can’t see the future, I can see the past and see that Manassas City supported a more moderate panel of candidates for the City Counsel. So enjoy your happy bubble place for the time being while the rest of us await the official results of the elections to be held six months from now. If your bubble is padded, so much the better. Recent election results suggest your bubble will pop in November.

Gregg, PhDee, K Gotthardt, & Hacenedb,

Help Save Manassas doesn’t preach hate and prejudice and Greg Letiecq is not a nativist. It doesn’t matter how many letters you write or nasty messages that you post, your opinion doesn’t equal truth.

I would venture a guess that not one of you has ever been to an HSM meeting.

Nowhere does the resolution mention Latinos or Hispanics - it is about illegal aliens. It doesn’t matter what country an illegal alien is from, illegal aliens have no right to be here.

Attrition through enforcement works. We won’t need to deport the 12-20 million illegal aliens, they will return home on their own when they can’t get work.

Those who remain can voluntarily deport and take their families with them.
