Experience versus judgment in politics

John McCain talks a lot about how many years he has worked in Washington as a Congressman and Senator, but when all is said and done, what really matters? Years on a job or judgment and good
common sense? While it is always a stretch to compare anyone with Abraham Lincoln, we should remember that for the vast majority of his life, he was a country lawyer in Illinois; he served only six
years in the Illinois legislature and one term (two years) in Congress. That’s it! Only eight years in public life. Yet, he was by many accounts our greatest president. If McCain had run against him, he
would bemoan Lincoln’s inexperience and lack of a public record.

What experience has John McCain shown in championing the Iraq war, now longer than World War II, at the expense of the real war in terror — Afghanistan? Even today, he is warlike, threatening Russia
over its invasion of Georgia, while choosing to forget our own invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan. By contrast, Barack Obama and President Bush, to his credit, have been restrained and thoughtful,
recognizing that there isn’t much we can or should do to Russia because of its attack on Georgia. They are showing judgment and wisdom, learning from history. We should not throw Russia out of the G-
8, as McCain wants, because we want to continue our dialogue with them and avert further crises. Russia is a major power with whom we have much in common. If McCain had his way, we would be
restarting the Cold War. Do Americans really want that again?

The Russia-Georgia problem shows that John McCain only offers the same old refried beans of a return to the Cold War, further threats against Iran, and who knows who else (Venezuela? Cuba?).
Enough already! Time for a change. I’m voting for Barack Obama!

thepanda,
I’ve been a tax paying citizen since 1975. Worked as an executive for MS for 11 years making $150k a year by the time I was 30. I have paid my fair share of tax’s to support all the liberal social programs that you guys support. I have paid my way. Anyone can claim to have served in the Military. My family has served this country going back beyond the Civil War. The military offered me very little in 1979 when I spoke to the Marine Corps recruiters including my retired Marine Father who also served early on in Vietnam. There were times when we did not see our dad for months when he was on active duty so don’t tell me that our family has not supported the military. If you signed up to go then thank you for your service. If drafted then you did what any of of Americans would have done. You don’t get a free pass here due to your military service. We can’t all serve in the Military unless we live in China. Get rid of that silly screen name thepanda. That’s kind of girly don’t ya think?

Hey Cobra,
This is the panda and I am not Asian.  Again, wrong! And, I am not a traitor.  I served my country proudly in Vietnam during 1968 and received the BSM and SSM.  What have you done for your country??

thepanda,
Let me guess, you’re Asian with a screen name such as thepanda. Nice work. My role is to fight you anti-American kooks who post here each day. I don’t give a damn about the cute little names you libs come up with for those that don’t agree with your views. Just added you to the list of Traitors. List is getting very long. I’ll write what the hell I want and you don’t have to read it fool. Your reference to the NY Times and Wash Compost says it all. No real surprise here that those publications are the choice of Traitors. I here Osama reads the NY Times and Wash Compost each morning. You are in nice company there. You guys have no one on the left that can go toe to toe with Rush. That just eats at you libs like cancer. Nice try Al Franken.

Cobra is passing gas on this post also. Always goes from topic to topic. Nothing of substance, intellect, or value ever. I see that he brings up his rabidly racist views (uusually it’s Hispanics) using the Koreans this time. He hints of white supremacy now, probably going back to 1967 Loving v. Va. US Supreme Court decision outlawing (unconstitutional) as regards miscegenation, - mixing of races for marriage, sex, cohabitating, etc.  Poor guy - never gotten over it,; that’s part of the reason Va. went from Democratic to Republican. Once a racist, always a racist.  Cobra emphatically embraces white supremacy and racism.  Why even the Nazis borrowed miscegenation from Va. One has to really feel sorry for somelike like Cobra, who avoided military,  like hism Republican favorite, Bush. Cobra relishes the status quo, when everyone else with any sense knows a change is desperately needed.  If it be true Obama has no experience, then at least his mind can’t be polluted with the present Bush crap and that of the Republicans, who want to keep an old dying man as a representative of the Presicdency - it’s like have Stalin’s body. With the debt from the war, the US would not be able to fund a state funeral for McCain should he win. Remember:  you can’t tech an old dog new tricks.  McSame - NO.  Get it?

Cobra..I’ve read your comments before and can tell you are not listening and have some growing up to do. You want to talk about Centreville HS and not the important issue of the day. No more diversions, no more McWar.  This country needs change and an intelligent leader who we all can be proud of. Read the Post and NYTimes and don’t listen to Rush and his legions.

CHANGE. CHANGE. CHANGE. CHANGE. CHANGE. Hmm. That’s all you got Andrew? How about coming up with something new about BHO. Oh that’s right, there is nothing there. Hard to take a look at someone who has done nothing. At least Lincoln practiced law. BHO never worked a case in his life. He was a paper pusher. CHANGE. CHANGE. CHANGE. So you are ok with a guy who embraces the radical anti-America crowd such as someone who bombed a federal building. Hope you stay in Centreville you idiot. We have more then enough traitors in PW County. Oh by the way, how’s that diversity crap working out there at Centreville HS where the Korean kids tried to start a Korean Student Association? Understand that it was going ok until the white kids wanted to start an Anglo Student Association. All of a sudden the school shut it down. Ok for Koreans to have a group but all hell breaks out when white kids start a club. I guess they will have to wait until 2042 when whites will be the minority.
