Experiencing a lifetime of substandard ball fields

This spring marks 15 years our children have played baseball and/or softball in Coles Little League. And, for those 15 years, our “home park” has been substandard fields with outfield views, sounds and smells of an ever-growing county landfill.
Unleveled fields. Poor drainage. Pockets of mud. Sink holes. No lights. Limited parking.
One, perhaps two seasons, of this inconvenience would have been acceptable.
A lifetime of this nonsense is malpractice on the part of our elected officials.
Malpractice especially when voters approved the park bond in the Fall of 2006 and allotted more than $4 million for the construction of four new ball fields and the “Field of Dreams” specialty facility that will accommodate handicapped youth from all over our country.
As the Board of County Supervisors develops our 2009 proposed budget, please remember the promises you made to — and the bond that we passed for — Coles Little League, our parents and our children.
Thank you.
