Fear of liberal Democrat takeover

As this election season comes to an end, I have a nagging question that has not been answered.

What happens if Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama are all in power at the same time?

This scenario has the three most far-left liberals in control of the executive and legislative branches of government. Why do I feel so afraid?

John McCain’s latest talking point - and boy when John McCain talks about CHANGE he must be talking about his campaign platform, ‘cause it changes all the time - is about how if we elect Barack Obama, the Democratic Party will control all three branches of the government.

Of course, domination was all good when his party ruled the roost, but bad (and especially bad for McCain’s presidential hopes should that come to pass) if it were to happen today for some reason.

< and I like his reasoning. McCain says the Republicans did a bad job when they held power, so we should elect a Republican to keep the Democrats in check! > Huh?

I have some sage advice for Mr. McCain:

John - may I call you John? - forfeit the election today, get out on the campaign trail and use this final week to stump for all the endangered Republican senators and congressmen.

Use the power of your national image and that of your vice presidential pick, Sarah Palin, to promote these endanged men and women. Don’t stop there. Call on your friend President Bush to come to your aid and stand by you as you plead for their return to office. Take this fight to the people - YOUR people, and plead your case for a balance of power.

Because you have a much better chance of Republicans regaining the House or Senate than you do getting elected as our next president.

From the AP: “Federal agents have broken up a plot to assassinate Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.“

Okay, this is where all that fear and hate talks leads to. Thank you John McCain and Sarah Palin for running a campaign on fear and lies rather than running on your platform.

While John and Sarah know their comments are just “campaign talk”, there are always disciples of Rush & Sean out there ready to drink the Kool-Aid and attempt action.

Hate talk breeds hate actions.

Afraid of the three politicians you mention?  No, not really.  I don’t agree with everthing they say or do, but I’m not afraid of them.

Remember the Republican muscle-flexing of the mid-90s?  Remember how the Dems got all flustered and predicted the end of the world?  Interestingly enough, we’re still here, aren’t we?  Things have merely swung to the other extreme again.  That’s all.

Give it another four to eight years—things will most likely back the other way.  Such is the way of Washington.

Well at least we know Democrats can’t plunge the country into a recession, waste a huge budget surplus or get us stuck in the middle east.  These things of course have already happened under the Republicans.

And we can be fairly certain no terrorists will knock down the World Trade Center under President Obama’s watch.

So really, what’s left to be afraid of?  Free health care?

Idiots.

How right on the target, Gail!
I do not want to make you even more afraid but you missed to mention the liberal, out-of-context, Constitution prostitutioning judges Obama said on numerous occasion he is going to appoint to the Courts!
Now do you realize how much is at stakes and why the liberal media goes as far as to ignore such important issues about Barack Obama as his extreme vies on abortion or his ties with despicable, America hating radicals like Jeremiah Wright, Louis Farrakhan, Frank Marshall Davis, William Ayers, Rashid Khalidi, ACORN and the $800 000 payment Obama’s campaign made to Citizens Service Inc.- a group that registers voters and has past ties to Acorn, etc.? Or Obama’s ties with people of low character like Antoin “Tony” Rezko?

Or even worse, what if the Republicans were in control of the White House and Congress and we had George Bush, Bill Frist and Dennis Hastert running the country?

Oh yeah, Been There, Done That, Got the War, Torture, Debt and Corruption to prove it!

Six of the past eight years have been a horror as we’ve watched a Republican President cheered on by a Republican Congress take our country on a drunken joy ride that will take us decades to undo.

Republicans inherited a budget surplus then quickly ran up the largest debt in US history, larger than all previous administrations from George Washington to Bill Clinton combined. And that was before the Wall Street bailout.

Republicans took the flimsiest, unreliable intelligence and “lied it up” to justify war against a country that had nothing to do with 9/11 and posed no threat to our national security. The war which has now taken longer and cost more than World War II has cost a million people their lives, devastated the lives of millions more and left a country in ruins.

Republicans have used signing statements to break the law, used the military to spy on American citizens without warrants and have used the Justice Department to persecute their political enemies.

Republicans implemented a policy of torture, setting up a ring of black-site prisons across the world, many in former communist countries, and held meetings in the White House to discuss specific acts of torture to be used on detainees.

Republicans have had their time in power and used it to loot the treasury, shred the constitution, ruin our reputation and generally spit on Ronald Reagan’s shining city on a hill and kick it into a ditch.

And as much as I hate to do it, I’m afraid that the nonsensical fear-mongering that has the sheep of the Republican party shaking with fear over letting the Democrats have a turn in power requires me to invoke the Rooster Cogburn rule of political squeamishness. To wit:

The party of of pro-war, pro-torture, gun-totin’, Bible-thumpin’, SUV-drivin’, “pull yourself up by your own bootstraps,“ “marines don’t cut and run,“ “you can have my gun when you pry it from my cold dead fingers,“ shock and awe neo-conservatives is not allowed to hide behind mama’s skirts trembling with fear over nonsensical ghost stories made up by cynical, bigoted propagandists to scare the sheep into believing the scary “community activist” who suspended his campaign to visit his sick grandma is some kind of America-hatin’, Marxist, terrorist “boogerman” who’s going to make your babies read the Koran.

“Well if I had a big horse pistol like that I wouldn’t be scared of no ‘boogerman’”
John Wayne as Rooster Cogburn, “True Grit”

What Republicans do best is to tell you what to be afraid of and who is the cause of that fear.

It is never fear of WHAT IS but always fear of WHAT MAY BE.

We KNOW we should be afraid of more Bush-McCain Economic Policy, more McCain taxes on the working class and we should really fear McCain’s tax on our health care benefits - but Republicans don’t discuss reality - they just plant thoughts in your head of what may never be.

It would have to be the opposite of what we got when we had congress and the white house controlled by far right conservatives.
