Foreclosures and evictions in PWC

Recently, I was at the county landfill and I witnessed three separate trucks, all pulling huge “cage” trailers, dumping the contents of entire households.

I asked one of the truckers if his load was the result of a foreclosure or eviction, and he said yes.

In fact, he was hired to trash the contents of three more houses that day.

Is there any thought of using funds to finance or fix up some of the simpler of the foreclosed houses, and using them, instead of building (for example) new ‘habitat’ houses?

It seems a shame for decent empty houses to be unoccupied when there is such a need.

A bigger shame is our society emphasizing the protection of the investment banks instead of people.

Big business abhors government interference, but when they are in trouble, demand bailout.

It may indeed be simply “all about the money,” and power. The people seem to be short on both.

Barnum, don’t read too much into my post.  I do stand by my statement. As clarification, keep in mind that laws are often passed that are declared unconstitutional.  Behind every law, there is a reason - often hidden - for its creation. Some people like to interpret lawsmby refrrring to alleged ddiscussions, speeches, etc. that took place in the law’s creation process. My point is that that this “talk
“ is NOT the law; the law is what the words in it say - whether constitutional or unconstitutional.

Jefferson said, Wazhington said, Adams said, Joe blow said, etc etc.  Who cares.  What was said is irrelevant.  All that matters is what’s in the law, not what was said while in a bar.

Fact: being in this country illegally no matter where you are from, is against the law. There really is nothing to discuss beyond that.

It all sounds noble about the vacant houses.  Personally, ZI think the govt should just let the situation take its course.  If Wall St. fails, so be it.  Same for banks.  Why should taxpayers bail out these greedy businesses. The gfovt has no busin ess in buying up homes either people that take mortgages they can’t afford or don’t read the fine print have to pay for their blunders.  System needs to collapse.  It’s easier to build from that state than it is to try to change something.

You are correct barnum, using emotions and no facts deserves no responses.  The anti crowd can’t discuss anything without using emotions, and never provides facts or sources.  That’s why the anti crowd never responds to questions and usually launches a tirade.

In reference to the article, since there is going to be a massive government bailout, it would be nice if the government took ownership of the homes they’re paying for and sold them to lower income families at the reduced cost. It saves the banks and helps the poor.

when someone argues based on emotion and not facts and can only resort to name calling, it is time to just ignore their comments. replying only heightens their irrational emotions.

phdeeSince you are shifting out of the comments of Mr. Engman I am going to put a little bit of light in your eyes , because you with your narrow mind are unable to see anything but PWC and the anti immigrant population. Las Vegas is the city that has the most numbers of foreclosures, you make an statement that the foreclosures in PWC are because the enforcement of anti illegal immigration policies. There is no doubt that the resolution create some worries among undocumented immigrants ,moving to another localities, but the housing crisis is all over the country and affect all kind of people, that is why the members of the congress are working in order to bring some solutions. Now you got it?

Godsaver, you are another of those ignorant kooks among the anti crowd. Are you denying some anti’s did not praise ghost towns? What does housing in Las Vegas have to do with the subject of the writer’s letter? You kooks can never stay with a subject.  And isn’t my description of foreclosed homes accurate? You anti kooks write something and then in the next breath deny you said it. My eyes are good enough to see through you - phony.
