Del. Jeff Frederick serves admirably as chairman of the Republican Party of Virginia. I have always supported him because of his hard work on behalf of his constituents. I recently read a letter submitted
to the editor, an editorial and a column in the News & Messenger that do not accurately describe the Frederick I know.
First, a reader in Dale City whined about Frederick comparing the behavior of Barack Obama’s friend to Osama Bin Laden’s friend. Both friends bombed the Pentagon. What he said is true. Frederick,
THANK YOU so much for NOT apologizing for something that did not deserve an apology. You were right to stand your ground when you said it was a joke. Then the writer, without any proof, said that
screams of “terrorist” and “kill him” were heard at a rally in Virginia whenever Obama’s name was mentioned.
There are many Secret Service agents located throughout any large political rally, and after much investigation, absolutely nobody heard such utterances.
Second, an editorial on Oct. 16 criticized Frederick for saying that Obama and Osama Bin Laden had friends who bombed the Pentagon. This is true. Bill Ayers was a Weather Underground member who
recently stated that he wished he had done more bombing. Also, Obama wrote the foreword to one of Bill Ayers’ books.
No one would ask you to do that unless you were a close confidant. Instead of criticizing Mr. Frederick, why isn’t a reporter sent to Chicago to unearth the real story about Bill Ayers?
Third, side by side (again, in lockstep), John Merli jumped on the bandwagon. His articles are riddled with liberal ideology. He was criticizing Frederick for the same reason as the two previous writers.
When John Merli wants to degrade someone, he challenges their intelligence level. The ability of the Republican volunteers was questioned. To quote him, he said, “Obviously, there are no entrance tests
for these volunteer meetings and ignorance must breed more ignorance.” What an arrogant statement! I recall that he called the supporters of the Chairman of the Board of Supervisors as being easily led
because they were not very smart. Frederick, keep up the good work!
