I would like to respond to Mr. Pete Frisbie’s June 9 “personal congratulations” to Delegate Frederick on the event of Frederick’s election to the chairmanship of the Virginia Republican Party.
Mr. Frisbie used this occasion to slam Delegate Frederick for “negative attacks and outright lies” and for voting against transportation system funding.
With regards to transportation funding, Delegate Frederick has repeatedly stated that transportation is a top priority for our commonwealth.
His point, as has been explained to me, is that we should fund it like a top priority within the bounds of the annual revenues the state already receives, and I agree with him.
The state constantly robs our transportation funds to pay for other “priorities” and then suggests higher taxes to meet our transportation needs. Where is the honesty in that? A few short years ago our
coffers were overflowing so abundantly that the state Congress had to be reconvened in order to figure out how to spend all the money that was pouring in. Delegate Frederick was like a lone voice in the
darkness stating we should, OF COURSE, be spending at least some of it on our high priority transportation problem. I have tried to understand why this could not have been done.
The only conclusion I can come to is that many in Richmond would rather leave transportation unfunded so that it will look as if Virginians are not taxed enough.
I don’t think we have a revenue shortfall. I think we have misplaced and mislead priorities.
If transportation is really our number one need, fund it like our number one need within the bounds of our current state revenues.
As to Mr. Frisbie’s charge that Delegate Frederick is a liar … Delegate Frederick is pointed, direct and firm, but a liar he is not.
I understand Mr. Frisbie’s underlying concern that a young man with energy, drive, a proven track record and a strong set of conservative values has taken the helm of the Republican Party of Virginia.
If “liar liar, pants on fire” is the best argument the Chairman of the Prince William County Democratic Committee can form against Delegate Frederick, I’ll take that as a good sign for the future of
Conservatism in Virginia.

Mr. Frisbie:
You are a typical liberal. Calls others names but would be the first to call foul play if the shoe was on the other foot.
No wonder why Democrats are viewed as weak on many issues and lack the guts to do the right thing when it comes to national security.

Fault lies with Republicans in the GA. The writer fails to cite what are the priorities that are misplaced, and he dances at transportation funding but has no suggestions. Everything the Dems try, the Reps block. Simple as that.

Virginia doesn’t have “transportation funds”. If the Republicans & Democrats in the Assembly had been doing their jobs, Virginia would have a transportation fund, into which to place gasoline taxes & transportation related fees, which would be used exclusively for the transportation needs of Virginia.
