I am both a life member of the Veterans of the Vietnam War Inc., and Veterans Coalition Post 06 and The Disabled American Veterans both Chapter 11 and 55. Both organizations advocate better lives for
veterans and their families.

We raise money through fund-raising and I must say the folks in Prince William County and others are very generous. We thank everyone for their support. The donations are used 100 percent for our
veterans.

We recently decided to purchase merchandise from a local department store for the veterans at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Like any other organization, upon showing proper identification and
organizational letter heads, we inquired about a possible discount.

The manager of the store was contacted via telephone by the sales associate. The manager told the associate no and would not even take a moment to talk to us. Regardless, we did purchase the
products and put some very happy smiles on some injured warriors.

Jerry,

I am hesitant to give out my personal e-mail.  If you go to my provate website at www.charest.net, you can relay a message to me there.

Thanks

Jerry,

WELCOME HOME Brother and thank you for your service, then and now. I’m glad you took the high ground and kept the support of those young men and women at WRAMC first and foremost. I have stood at WRAMC many Friday nights to show support for our troops. The feeling one gets when the buses bring them back from a night out is awesome. We’ve had many come out of the hospital to thank us for being there ... them thanking us??? Can you believe it??? They all deserve our support and our thanks for doing one fantastic job and service to our country. Free Republic and other troop support organizations have been standing at the main gate every Friday for the last three years from 7pm til the buses come home (usually anywhere from 9pm - 10:30pm). Bring your flags and join them ... the smiles and waves of those young men and women and their families will warm your soul.

On my original article I did indeed name the store and location and was told that I could not do so and that my article could not be published. I toned it down and made it very generic and it was approved for publication. If there is a way I can relay the message in private, I would be very happy to give you the information.

Thank you for your caring.  As a military spouse, I also raised funds to support our forward deployed troops (again, 100% of the money went to the troops) and I can confirm that the people of PWC are indeed very generous and supportive.

Thank you for your caring and support!

Mr. Foster,

Can you provide the name and location of the department store that refused a discount?  As a veteran myself, I take that refusal to provide a discount seriously, and would consider it when making my own shopping decisions.
