Ideology trumps qualifications for GOP

Delegate Lingamfelter highlights a curious shift in Republican strategies in his recent letter supporting Sarah (on a clear day I can see Russia, darn, you betcha, wink, wink) Palin. Evidently Republicans
are selecting right-wing ideologues over qualified moderates.

That is why Palin was thrust on McCain and the GOP. And frighteningly,  Palin could end up as president. Right-wing leaders in Virginia also threw moderate Rep. Tom Davis under the bus in favor of
former-Governor Jim Gilmore for U.S. Senator. Polls indicated Davis would have given Warner strong opposition. But Gilmore? A recent poll shows 61-31 in favor of Warner — whatta strategy!

Our government has been taken into oblivion by Bush/Cheney and advisors. They took us blindly into a war in Iraq that appears endless. The reasons for that war seem to change monthly. Today they talk
of winning the war, yet they also point out that the enemy is in every nation in the world. It is evident the “enemy” would set up in Darfur or Syria or other failed states if defeated in Iraq. This has been a
war where only service members and families have felt the pain and burden of sacrifice.

During this time, the ideologues were afraid to raise the money to pay for their war. Instead, they raised our national debt from $5 trillion to $11 trillion. It was easy for them to foist the cost onto our
children. Consider what this debt has done to our national economy.  McCain has marched lock-step with Bush on most of these issues.

It was only when Senator Obama came along with an orderly and responsible plan for withdrawal that the White House started to move on ending the war. If voters want another four years of cutesy sound
bites, disastrous decisions, phony tough-talk and higher hidden taxes and unemployment, then vote for McCain. If you want responsible moderate leadership with Obama/Biden, a team with well-thought
out plans to address our problems and highly regarded military, economic, and diplomatic advisors, please vote for them!

Kerry insulted himself and his fellow soldiers when he threw his medals away.  My father served two tours in Vietnam and spent twenty in the Marine Corps, I have great respect for our Veterans.

“The swiftboaters did and said nothing that was not true of Kerry. “

Nah they just smeared a Vietnam veteran and lied about his purple heart.  How patriotic of them.  And what a douche nozzle you are to stand up for what they did.

I’ll bet you applauded when Chambliss called Max Cleland who lost both legs in Vietnam “soft on national security”.

Because Republicans really know how to “support the troops”.

Jva,

Who was in charge of the Counties where most of the hanging chads were in question?  The Dems.  Gore lost, get over it.

The swiftboaters did and said nothing that was not true of Kerry.

“What does that say about Gore and Kerry?  They can’t even beat out the stupid hick from Texas. “

Its true.  Gore wasn’t smart enough to get around Katherine Harris and the Supreme Court.  Kerry let himself get swift boated.

That GW Bush sure is clever!

“You will no longer be able to decide how much you want to make or how much to keep, you will simply hand it all over to the “one”. “

Yeah that is really likely to happen.  What a freaking moron.  Big surprise you voted for Bush.  Twice.  The rest of the country owes you a big thanks.

Qualifications, for President, surely we jest here.  Very few Presidents have had any qualifications to become President.  As far as a President delivering on his political promises, very very few.  Except in the few instances where a political candidate actually overwhelms his political Party, the goal of political parties is to get someone in the White House with the most medocre talents possible.  The thought of birthing another “Imperial” President sets em all ashudder.  Excluding Washington from the list, most presidents fall withing a narrow band of ineffectiveness.
As far as Vice Presidents, with the exception of the few who later became President, either by the death of a President, or elected in their own right, most of them have passed into history as virtual unknowns.
If there was any one single individual who became President, having prior experience, that would have to be Richard Nixon, while Eisenhower’s Vice President, during several of IKE’s more severe heartattack events, Nixon did serve as Acting.  Look where it got him in the end.
Oh! there were 4 Imperial presidents if you don’t include Jefferson Davis.  Jackson, Lincoln, Roosevelt(Franklin), and Reagan.  Two died in office, Reagan and Jackson just faded away.  We could add LBJ, however, the office destroyed him. Nixon to a degree, however his administration crumbled into a disaster zone.  I added Jefferson Davis in there because like it or not, he was an american president, just a different federation.  He not only was a founding president, he was imperial as well.  Politically more qualified to serve as a president then Lincoln, regardless his administration crumbled, and then was defeated.  He was never really tried for anything, but was incarcerated for years, and finally released to return home and die.
Who ever wins this next election could have the opportunity to go down in history as a Heroic Savior, however, more then likely he will suffer a similar fate to so many of his predecessors, just fade away into obscurity.

I expect if Obama wins, you will be the first to hand over all of your pay and belongings to “help spread the wealth”.  You will no longer be able to decide how much you want to make or how much to keep, you will simply hand it all over to the “one”.

“Obama is the most liberal senator we have had in some time.  Talk about choosing ideology over qualifications.  “

Awww… boo hoo!

We just suffered through the dumbest President we’ve had in some time.  I doubt the most liberal can do any worse.

Obama is the most liberal senator we have had in some time.  Talk about choosing ideology over qualifications.

Obama does not even know how many States we have.  Obama does not even know what language is spoken in Afghanistan. Obama thinks Iran is a small Country that does not pose a threat.

Well said Mr. Raymond!  With regard to the nut-job about ACORN, this only evens out the playing field with the lesser and intellectually inept Republican party.  Republicans, in every election, try to suppress the will of the people (who do not vote for them), challenging voters at polling stations, losing ballot boxes (not surprisingly when the state Sec of State or other Sr election official is a Republican, as happened in FL in 2000—not to mention not counting all the votes), or using voting machines that leave no paper trail (most of the companies who make these machines are owned/managed by republicans).  Republican=thief, liar, bigot, and steamy pile of dung!

“Did Alan Colmes write your post this morning ... since you never actually post anything other than your talking points and “sound bites”.

pwanon, I will admit I am a bit of a political novice and I take my direction from more seasoned political veterans - such as Sarah Palin.

Why use facts when sound bites work well? Why answer questions you didn’t want asked when you can answer the question you know? Why not s-t-r-e-t-c-h the truth or simply outright lie if it is a better match for your position?

Forgive my ignorance, I’m just following Sarah’s lead <wink wink>.
