This letter is in response to the letter written by C.P. Brothers III in the July 10 issue of this paper.
With all the respect I can Muster. Shame on you! You sir remind me of one of the NIMBYs (NOT IN MY BACK YARD) that built or bought houses in the landing pattern of Dulles Airport and then right
away started complaining about jet noise.
You knew about it when you built or bought in the area around Old Dominion Speedway. If you don’t like it, just leave. You wont be missed, but on the other hand the race track would be!
This race track is good for the county and it helps keep race enthusiasts young and old from racing and killing people on the streets of the commonwealth. Illegals on the other hand are not good for the
county the state or country. Don’t lump the two together, there is no comparison.
I suspect ODS was around way before you, and hopefully it will remain a whole lot longer!

It seems that the issue of whether the Police enforce the law and the County Attorney does his job has been lost here. A person who lives in one of the dangerous sections of the County and is assulted outside her home should be be afforded equal protection under the law, even though she was told it was perhaps not the safest place to live. Maybe it is all her family could afford. The law applies to everyone

I agree, As an instrument rated private pilot I am accutly aware of the issue of noise and niose complaints by Johnie Come Latelys. At private or small municipal airports we are constantly underfire by the homeowners under the airport traffic pattern. My home airport in Leesburg VA has been targeted and fortunately for the airport received support from the local government. This doesn’t disuade the greedy developer from building on land at the end of runway 35 but it does require all purchasers of those home to sign a waiver stating they know that the airport is there. I just happened to buy my home 1/4 mile from the railroad tracks and I can hear the trains go by but I’m not going to cry about it.
