I am dismayed by the misleading and incomplete information on your web link regarding my salary as a Prince William County School employee.
After my annual gross salary I would ask you to include the following information: I have 18 years of educational experience, 12 of which are in Virginia public schools. I hold a master’s degree from
George Mason, I am required to take continuing coursework in order to meet licensing requirements, I spend an average of 8 to 9 hours per day at school and another 8 hours each weekend on job related tasks. I purchase many classroom supplies out of my own pocket including instructional materials, books and consumable materials.
Additionally, my husband and I have spent our own money on clothing, food and other personal needs my students would have otherwise done without.
Finally, I would ask you to make public that I love being a teacher. Please feel free to spend the day with me sometime; we could take the kids to the cafeteria, check my mailbox, call a parent and then have our 15 minute lunch together so we can chat.
