Gary Jacobsen’s column “You, too, can be a columnist” in the May 6 addition of the Potomac News is right on target. And, he is the perfect example that anyone can do it.

“Anyone” can do it? Maybe it is more accurate to say “Anyone can attempt to do it.” Many try, but few succeed. The reason? Most people prefer to merely snipe at others rather than produce worthwhile essays.

Apparently, anyone can have a letter published as well, whether or not he knows the difference between “edition” and “addition.”
