Kaine swings and misses — 98 times

Before he called a special session on transportation, Gov. Tim Kaine told everyone within earshot that he had “the votes” to pass the package of tax hikes and increased fees he planned to push on the people of Virginia.
Not only was he incorrect about having “the votes” — Governor Kaine would have been incorrect if he had said that he had “a vote” for his legislation, as he did not receive even one single vote in either
chamber of the General Assembly for his transportation “solution.”
You heard right. After a dozen town hall meetings (between his trips across the country campaigning for Barack Obama) and weeks to prepare for the special session, Tim Kaine received a grand total of
zero votes when the chips were down. The Virginia Senate — now controlled by the Governor’s party — thought so little of Kaine’s bill they did not even bring it to a vote.
When Kaine’s bill was brought to the floor of the House for an up-or-down vote. That’s not just bad, that’s Jesse Jackson whispering into a microphone bad.
So please remember that when Kaine and the Democrats try to blame Republicans for the failed special session, that even if the session were filled only with Democrats, no solutions would have been
reached. Senate Democrats passed a gas tax increase their colleagues in the House could not support, and the Democrat governor had a bill that left Richmond without a single vote cast in favor of it.
It is a shame that while Republicans crafted a package of innovative solutions to the transportation problems we now have in the Commonwealth (but did not involve a single new dollar in tax increases),
Democrats postured, posed, and in the end were caught playing politics.
This is just another reason to remind Virginians of the key differences between the two parties, and why they need to vote Republican if they want real solutions.

Blame to our past-governor also now candidate for Senator; Gov. Warner (D) for the transportation crisis. The transportation crisis starts many years ago and Gov. Warner pour all the money in to an overpriced project the famous mixing bowl, at the end the cost was more then three times the original budget. Tim Kaine, order to be Governor of Virginia promises solution to our transportations crisis without rising taxes, now stick in your words. Kaine like Obama only wants rise taxes, just look at Obama’s economic package. Now he proposes another tax relief, of course we have to pay it back with more taxes. About the famous Albo’s fees, I have to say that it is another big fat lie from Democrats to take more seats in the Virginia Assembly, originally those fees where targeted to all drivers from all states, but this bill was changed in office of the Governor , targeting Virginia residents only. It passes with the support of Democrats and Republicans. Keep blaming Republicans bunch of libs, thanks to Gov Gilmore we have a property tax relief. We should not be paying any taxes at this time but the democrat Gov Warner decided not to end the property tax, as if it was the original plan

thank you, jeff!
as we’ve hit some tough times in this great nation of ours, i feel the left has used the flawed logic of “look at how bad things are, we can’t be any worse” to try and gain votes.
but as you so eloquently pointed out, if you do not have viable plans and ideas to back you up, you just block progession and become part of the problem.
how embarassing for Kaine and his fellow party members.

The key difference between Democrats & Republicans is the difference between gas taxes, paid by all who fuel a vehicle in Virginia & Albo fees, paid only by a few. Equality is not something Republicans favor.

So Jeff, where are the results of your “innovative solutions”? We had Innovative George and Innovative Jim as governors and yet we still have traffic jams everyday. Let me know when you can provide Metro rail to Gainesville, VRE to Haymarket and other traffic solutions without raising money to pay for it. We have traffic problems because Republican leadership sends 2 BILLION tax dollars overseas each week to fix someone else’s roads and bridges.
You good at saying who to blame but not so good at providing answers.
