In September, the Virginia Master Naturalist Program will open at Merrimac Farm. This is an opportunity for people to learn about nature close to home. It also should be lots of fun, with opportunities to
catch-and-release dragonflies and small mammals, bird local wetlands, tour stream restoration projects and discover forest habitats.
Master Naturalists are volunteers who help lead tours, clean streams, survey wildlife populations, restore habitat and more. People who complete this program are Certified Master Naturalists.
The new Merrimac Farm Master Naturalist Chapter is supported through a partnership between the Prince William Conservation Alliance, Prince William County Watershed Management Branch, Prince
William Soil & Water Conservation District, Prince William Wildflower Society and the National Park Service, Prince William Forest Park.
Merrimac Farm Master Naturalists are now accepting applications for the September session. No previous experience is needed to apply for the September program, which is open to all Northern Virginia
citizens. For more information, call 703.499.4954 or check online at http://www.pwconserve.org/masternaturalist.
