On behalf of the Prince William Regional Chamber of Commerce, I commend the recent decision to merge the Potomac News and Manassas Journal Messenger into one paper, reflecting that while
Prince William may have many different components, we are indeed one community.
The Prince William region is home to several unique neighborhoods. Immediately surrounding Prince William County are the cities of Manassas and Manassas Park. The towns of Dumfries, Haymarket,
Occoquan and Triangle reside within the county. Each adds to the rich fabric of our region with its own attributes and history. Collectively, we form a community with diverse employment and recreational
opportunities; a wonderful place to work, live and play.
As the chairman of the Region’s Chamber, which has members throughout the Prince William region, I regularly speak to business people and residents from all corners of our community, and can attest
that I encounter more similarities than differences. As publisher Bruce Potter noted, the issues that affect the county also affect the cities and towns.
Much as the completion of the Va. 234 bypass reduces the distance between areas in Prince William, this merger brings the residents closer together. I also applaud the decision to include a community
page six days a week, which will continue to give voice to the distinct neighborhoods in our community, and keep readers informed of activities and news from throughout the county, cities and towns.
I look forward to reading the expanded news available in the News & Messenger this October, knowing that it represents news from our whole community.
