Over the years I have read with occasional interest the rantings and ravings written by Mr. Vic Poillucci. I had hoped that aging would have produced better results but his recent letter berating the patriotism of Barack Obama is hog-wash and a bird-call — cheep, cheep and cheep.
For the benefit of Mr. poillucci and any others interested, the wearing of a lag lapel pin does not a patriot make. Neither does it add nor detract from one’s character. Even the wearing of the nation’s
military uniforms have very little relationship with true patriotism. Mr. Bush actually wore the uniform of an Air Force Officer before he disgraced it by violating his contract with the American citizens by
refusing to attend required training. Is this conduct an example of the kind of patriotism that Mr. Poillucci admires?
My kind of Patriotism does not require the wearing of pins nor badges, neither does it require shouting from rooftops.
It does require a willingness to honestly and faithfully serve the nation by serving honorably in its military and in any other capacity one either volunteers or is selected to serve in. Mr. Poillucci can stand
on one foot, one hand or even a combination during the playing of the National Anthem and it will not have impact on my patriotism.
