Since there have been many new concerns over the way Prince William County has handled the so called immigration crackdown I suggest that the residents push for a new vote on the resolution and not just the people on the board.
It would be a good idea for the City of Manassas to step away from the controversy and instead be a leader in human rights.
If the city and the county have not realized it yet let me bring it to your attention: Many of the houses in the city of Manassas and Prince William County are not vacant and are up for foreclosure because some of the so called illegals picked up and left homes that they have rented for years. And the people who own theses homes can’t find anyone to rent them. Then you have the schools that see a drop in enrollment and they know they are going to lose money, which means losing jobs for the city and county. If I understand, right now the county wants to up taxes to help pay for this resolution.
Prince William County, ask for another vote on the resolution and get your voices heard. It may save you money!

Conservatives raising taxes? I agree with raywilliams, if they persist in shooting themselves in the foot, the polite thing to do is to reload their weapon for them.
k.o., don’t be cute, hell is a vulgar word only when used vulgarly. Also, nothing has been solved to everyone’s satisfaction.

Where in the world did you get your information?
Are you saying the illegals were renting??Wow,that indicates that a slum landlord was busy making money from hordes of people living in one house.
Helen you need to get the facts from PWCPolice and County Records.

Perhaps not !!!
Stop crying Helen ! In the long run citizens and legal workers will return to the city. These citizens will be better educated, more family oriented, and have better jobs/careers. They will spend more money in the city and county. Rebuiling our tax coffers, raising our house values again and giving businesses an incentive to relocate to our county. I support the BOC for doing the will of the people and cleaning up our city and county. Thanks again !!!

Actually, Ms. Sorto, if you’d been paying attention, you’d know how well the resolution is working. The biggest concern which caused some consternation was how Chief Deane was performing his outreach - that was settled to everyone’s satisfaction. ICE is stepping up. Neighborhoods are safer with less gang taggings. If by “new concerns” you mean the same anti’s that ranted before the PWC BOCS in October and ultimately (and literally) told the BOCS that they were “going to h3ll” at the conclusion of that meeting; or if by “new concerns” you mean businesses that relied on the presence of illegals must now operate honestly and within the law, then, in the words of Dr. Laura, get over it and move on.

phdee, let’s look at a few facts. There are an estimated 12 million illegals in the USA. I will guesstimate 5000 in PWC. The border remains open and security unfunded. ICE remain short staffed, lacks facilities and remains underfunded. PWC is in budget crisis and dipping into the reserve fund, meaning tax increases or project cuts. It has long been said when your political opponent is committing suicide
it is polite to step aside and out of respect, not interfere with the process.
If those that support the PWC Resolution want all their eggs in one basket, then show respect and don’t interfere. Time will tell which course of action was the correct one to take.
