As we approach July 4 and reflect on the beginning of a democratic society, please let us put some sense back into government in 2008. It is true that economic times have downturned and if anyone in
planning for Prince William County could not project this, they should be fired.
Prince William County has enough assets to do so much for county employees. They should be reminded that neither employees nor committees are elected and that employees are to serve the
people, not to be served by taxpayers. I appreciate Cheryl Chumley’s coverage of the Board of County Supervisors work session on June 25. However, the tourism coverage’s “pie-in-the-sky” attitude is
disturbing. I call this growing government.
