As a homeowner, I need to say quite clearly that I do not want to pay to enforce sanctions that are the responsibility of the federal government.
We have a shortfall, so we need to see where and cut back, not tax more. We seem to be quick to refine and redefine social services and cut a bit here and there, but apparently not for this. Of course the police need more money to enforce the board’s measure. Did anyone not see that coming?
I suggest those that are so highly in favor of it should help fund the measure.
Those of us who were not and are not, should be allowed to continue to contribute to a county that may have existed before in a dream, before Mr. Stewart’s stewardship drove us to what we have become.
I do not agree with illegal immigration but neither do I agree with Mr. Stewart’s assessment of the criminality of undocumented folks as a whole.
Undocumented people are here and always will be until the broken down federal system does something to rectify the situation. Taxing documented and undocumented folks alike (yes they also pay property tax and contribute to the coffers) to fund this measure is not only shameful but a travesty.
As an American of Latino descent, I implore everyone in PWC to look at what is being asked of us and why.
Where are our priorities?
