It was a sad day for America when Barack Obama was officially announced as the Democratic candidate to move on to the 2008 general election.
Seriously, is this the best we can pick from all of our democratic options? I am not quite sure how so many people have been disillusioned by Senator Obama’s campaign to “change” America.
Senator Obama has not completed a full term of senate or served in the U.S. military, and this inexperience is a huge threat to our nation, especially for a wartime presidency. Barack Obama is
unpatriotic, refusing to give reverence to our flag and national anthem.
When asked about an American Flag pin missing from his lapel, he stated that the flag was often a symbol of oppression for some Americans and he doesn’t want to take sides and feels he can show his
patriotism through his actions.
Unless Michelle Obama’s husband is elected, she feels that there is nothing to be proud of in this country.
Lastly, I can’t imagine that anyone truly believes that Senator Obama did not sit at his “church” for 20 years and not hear any of the hateful, racist, and divisive words delivered from the pulpit.
This church gives a standing ovation to this hateful rhetoric and a lifetime achievement award to Louis Farrakhan.
In November, I will cast my first Republican vote for Senator John McCain. In November, please remember that we do not need Obama’s “hope” when we have John McCain’s experience, patriotism and
integrity.

Rafterman, You must work for someone like BAH who looks for credentials first. As a Hiring Manager I look at a persons track record and consider their “ranking” in their graduation class as part of the whole picture. A degree doesn’t make you honest, ethical or teach you common sense. If you think that Obama is without any chinks in his armor, think again. His ethics are under scrutiny every day as well as his lack of true experince to be seated in the Oval Office. If you think intellect alone would qualify you for the presidency, both Bill Clinton and George W Bush graduated very high in their class, and look where that got us.

I don’t question McCain’s patriotism. However, when Bush ran for president, not only did his campaign allege McCain was mentally ill but it also alleged that Georgia sen. Clelan was unpatriotic, despite having lost several limbs in war. For those good old family value conservatibve Bible whumping boys and girls, does that allegation on patriotism still hold? Was Bush in his military service patriotic, or did he “hide” somewhere to avoid service?

Dignity?
Do you mean another skirt chaser?
McCain’s history is out there for all to see.
Barack Obama should be president because of his intellect alone. This country not only needs a new direction, it is doomed without one.
When I’m hiring, I’ll take the man who graduated at the top of his class over the one who graduated near the bottom any day!

phdee,
I’d have to say yes judging from the news footage.
McCain likes to brag about graduating near the bottom of his class. In doing so he solidifies the comparisons to Bush.

Well, is McCain still mentally ill? Or are the good old family value conservative republicans chronic liars and dirty political players? Which is it?

I like the fact that when someone tries to have a conversation about the qualifications of Barak Obama, they throw out snippets such as “Is McCain still mentally ill”... or “vis-a-vis his first wife”... That is the typical response since Obama is an empty, yet attractive vessel. He looks good on the outside but, when you start to look for any real value, you come up empty handed. All I know is that McCain has always tried to work across both aisles to get done what is better for the American People, not pandering to their own ideologies, “vis-à-vis” Nancy Pelosi.
BTW, Rafterman. I partially agree with you but, it’s not been the last eight years it’s been the last 16 years. Let’s elect someone that can bring dignity back to the Oval Office.

One of what I am sure will be many letters for both candidates parroting shallow TV punditry instead of discussing actual planks in candidates’ platforms. If the American people are choosing their government’s chief executive based on his accessories, what his former clergyman said (I would say that Catholic-basher John Hagee makes McCain even with Obama on this issue anyway) or broken records playing platitudes based on the words “hope” or “experience” then we are in big trouble. Please, just take a few minutes to educate yourself about the actual decisions these men plan on making as president. Go to http://www.johnmccain.com and http://www.barackobama.com/index.php and look at the “Issues” tab on each web page.

Do we really want someone who plans on staying in Iraq 100 years? Do we want a guy who is going to continue the Bush policies of preemption and invasion of countries with no links to 9/11? The answer is “NO”! We need change and OBAMA is the man for the job.

Integrity?
Do you have any idea at all what John McCain did vis-a-vis his first wife?
The biggest Threat to this nation has been the last eight years.
Clueless, totally clueless.
