Some ideas about ‘illegals’ and what to do

“Illegals” being criminals may be partially true if you take all the gang violence, but then all races are involved in this stereotype, since gangs of all races pollute this community. Hispanics are just more infamous in being gangsters.
I totally agree we should deport those here illegally that are doing crimes and involved in gangs, because there are already too many legal criminals. I know many ex-gang members that are also “illegal,” but they have left those gang-banging mentalities back in Mexico.
They have come to work and made money. They don’t expect to stay in this country because they left their lives back in Mexico. Anti-illegal immigrants have no sympathy for “illegals,” but understand that many leave their families to be able to put food on their table and clothes on their backs. Understand that a day of work here is equivalent to a week of pay in Mexico.
Mexico’s government has always welcomed Americans and continues to welcome them into their country. Americans living in Mexico have provided a lot to Mexico’s economy, and vice-versa.
Mexico is just more accepting. Americans regularly vacation in Mexico, and living in Mexico isn’t half-bad when you have money.
You could deport all “illegals” for just being illegal, but that’s just giving them a free plane ticket back to their country. A fellow “illegal” friend once got a broken taillight ticket and having no license due to his illegal status had to pay over $900 in court costs. “Illegals” are too valuable for the Police Department to just “deport them all.”
Anti-illegal immigrants are also tired of “‘illegals’ living 30 to a house,” but if you’re not the one living there, why do you speak? We come because we’re poor, not because we got it made in our homeland and want to try it here.
They like to act like “30 to a house” is comfortable, since those living in those houses are never the ones complaining.
If 30 people did actually live in a house, everybody couldn’t possibly be “illegal.”
Yet, we continue to birth nothing but “anchor babies that do nothing but dumb down our school system.” This system may have us destined to fail, but you would be surprised at how many Hispanics have made it. But even if “illegals” make it out of high school, it doesn’t do any good if Virginia’s politicians oppose a college education for them. Forget E.S.L., let smaller children that can’t speak
English learn with English-speaking students, and within a year or two, they will speak better than your children.

Illegal aliens are breaking the law by just staying here thus, that makes them criminals by default. Need to say no more.

Mexico’s economic situation is not as bad as the bleeding heart liberals would have you believe to allow the illegals to stay here. (Cry me a river!) Take a look at some of the facts between our two countries and judge for yourself.

It is not our responsibility to prop up their government, we need to help countries that actually NEED help.

We should not be shipping jobs elsewhere because it affects American jobs. We can help them become more self serving in respect to providing jobs for their own citizens by assisting them in development of their economy. It does not mean giving away jobs to them. Chris Cummings

Having them put on a boat or made to swim back while it is a good idea, its’ better to drive or fly them back since there is a land border. Ray we already tried amnesty in respect to getting everyone documented. Only 50% of illegals opted for it, so as you can see it does not work. We need to double fines to employers of illegals and make e-verify mandatory for better enforcement of laws already on the books. Chris Cummings

How to close the border? That will ONLY, ONLY, ONLY be done with economics. American businesses need to take the jobs we are shipping to China and create those jobs in Mexican factories to provide living-wage jobs for Mexican workers. Mexicans will stay home if opportunities are there. They don’t come here for our pleasant weather! Yes, you and I will pay another $2.00 per pair of Levis over Chinese-made jeans, but we help reduce our immigration problem in the process. BILLIONS of our US economy is being transfered to China each year and THAT is going to come back and haunt us, sooner rather than later.

Chris, there’s an old story about a football coach and the quarterback. Balls on the 35 yard line with time for one more play. Coach wants to try a fieldgoal and QB wants to try a pass.
Their goal is the same: win the game. But they disagree on how to achieve that goal. That is where we are. Both agree the system is not working perfect now, but disagree on how to resolve the issue. As a businessman, I know “extreme” changes are hard to implement and more gradual approaches are usually more successful in bringing people together. We are not going to chase out 12 million people, so let’s get some idea of who they are and document them. Fingerprints, DNA samples etc. The ones that refuse to be documented put on a boat to the international waters and let them swim the rest of the way home.

fedup, one problem we have in America is our consumers demand “low prices - every day”. This has led to good jobs being sent overseas to China and other places. Tech jobs too being farmed out to India. American consumers should be willing to pay a premium for American made products and for services provided by American workers. But they won’t, because we’re geared to expect someone will always offer “it” at a cheaper price. And, you are correct about my guys not applying for citizenship. I preach every year the importance of making that committment. They now understand the importance of the right to vote and two are filing for the application.

Fine, fine Ray, you are a one in a million employer who doesn’t exploit cheap illegal labor. You sponsoring 5 persons for their green cards does not make it right to take employment away from legal citizens. If these individuals truly cared would they not fix the problems in their own countries instead of foisting their problems on an already overburdened government. That was before the Iraq war incidentally. We need to cut immigration down to a quarter of what it is now, build thefence virtual and real, enforce hiring of illegals rules. I would think Ray you being a sensible man would agree to orderly and normal immigration. Things would go smoother and faster when it comes to immigration. Chris Cummings

Good for you Ray, but 18 and 9 years and still a green card? That tells me a lot, like no loyalty to this country.
My business didn’t fail we sold it.
I agree with you Americans are spending themselves into a mess evidence by the economy now. However, it doesn’t help anyone to hire illegal immigrants at sub-par wages. I am glad yours are legal, but where they before you sponsored them?
I will stay right here in Culpeper where I have been for the biggest part of my life.
Your comment about the price of a new parking garage shows your mentality. Only buy goods and services if it is cheap. The cost won’t go up, just won’t have ILLEGALS working on it! Thank GOD they got them!

Chris, my guys average about $25.00 per hour. Please let me know if I’m taking advantage of them by paying them so little. Vacation and paid holidays also. Right now I just wish I was in the concrete business as those prices are going to soar, soar, soar! Price of the city’s new parking garage JUST WENT UP!!!
