The purpose of this levy is to fund the additional staffing requested by the fire and rescue services and to provide the money for current operations. The levy would, in part, eliminate the funding of fire and rescue services from property tax assessments. Let the Republican-led Council raise the property taxes to cover the costs of fire protection - not just impose a “levy”. A levy means they can run for reelection on the premise they did not raise taxes while crossing their fingers behind their backs. Levy, Tax, Surcharge, Fee .... all the same to the taxpayer.  Oh, I DO support the need for paid fireservice.
