I recently sent the Republican candidate for Virginia’s 11th District, Keith Fimian, a letter inquiring into his stance on social issues, which he had previously refused to comment on, going so far as to call
them “irrelevant” to the 11th and his bid for it’s open congressional seat. He has yet to respond. The issues of a woman’s right to choose, contraception and stem cell research are not as “irrelevant” to the
11th and his bid for its open congressional seat.

On November 4, we will go to the polls and cast our vote for our candidates and their platforms.  As it stands, a vote for Mr. Fimian amounts to an uninformed decision if he cannot answer the most basic
questions on long established social issues.

Mr. Fimian, do you oppose a woman’s right to choose in instances of rape, incest or the health or life of the mother? Do you support pharmacies that refuse to sell and distribute contraceptives? This is,
in fact, a pertinent issue with one opening as close as Chantilly this summer.  Finally, where do you stand on stem cell research? This is a complicated subject and one that requires more than a yes or
no answer. I challenge and encourage you Mr. Fimian to expand your agenda to include the full gauntlet of issues we encounter here in the 11th.
