Where will you shop for the holidays this year? I’ve been one of those people who avoid stores like the plague during the holidays. Not this year. Our family will purchase gifts from local merchants.
I officially began Christmas shopping this past Saturday in Old Town Manassas. I was pleasantly surprised by the great service and the friendly shop owners, not to mention being able to put a nice dent
in my shopping list.
When we support our local merchants, we all benefit. Our schools get funding, our roads get plowed, we have fire and police service, etc. Show support for your community by spending locally this holiday
season.

That would be like shopping in Occoquan. They do have very nice things. You possibly have seen me post on here before. I am still a legal resident of Prince William County, but am living in Simi Valley. Dear old Mom lives in my house which has been up for sale for the past 16 months. I suspect a lot of people will run their charge cards up this Christmas. I am in my early 50’s and do not own any. If I do not have the money I will not buy it. My finacee and I are keeping it quite simple. She has three girls that she raised and they are on their own. Sadly she is not on speaking terms with one daughter, and she is the only one out of the three girls that have four young children. She is a sociopath and a control freak and suddenly out of the blue told her mother she was not allowed to see her grand children any longer. All that because her Mom could not do her a favor. Since she used the children as leverage, we no longer bother with her. We had a wonderful Christmas last year, and I’ll miss that. For the children we would have purchased nice gifts. The other two daughters we communicate with and have them over often. The California cost of living and excess use of charge cards caught up to both her daughters. My finacee makes wonderful home made sugar cookies and with drawings on each. They are very good and they both love them. I make beef jerky and they both love the different flavors I make. We are having a nice Christmas dinner and I am making a big batch of jerky. Sadly the grand kids are the only ones that will be hurt, by the choices their mother made. I am not the biological grandfather but treated the kids like a grandfather. She did want me to stay in the relationship, but I refused if she would not let my fiancee see them. It will be an interesting Christmas.

How nice for you that you can scratch off your Christmas list at pricey Old Town boutiques. We should all be so fortunate.
